12. Cleaning and maintenance

a) General information

Allow all parts to cool down completely (e.g. engine and exhaust).
After you have finished driving the vehicle, remove all dust and dirt (e.g. using a clean long-haired brush and a vacuum
cleaner). Compressed air aerosols can also be helpful.
Do not use cleaning aerosols or conventional household cleaners. These may damage the electronics and
lead to discolouration on the plastic parts or the body.
Never wash the vehicle with water, e.g. with a high-pressure cleaner, as this may destroy the engine and
the receiver. The vehicle must not become damp or wet!
Use soft, slightly damp cloth to wipe the body. Do not rub too firmly, as this may result in scratch marks.

b) Maintenance

All moveable and mounted parts must be lubricated with a low-viscosity machine oil or spray grease after cleaning.
Always remove excess oil/fat.
Maintenance work and function tests must be completed from time to time to ensure that the vehicle functions properly
and remains roadworthy.
Engine vibrations and shocks during driving may cause certain parts and screw fittings to become loose. Some com-
ponents (e.g. tyres, clutch, brake pads, air filter, glow plug) are subject to normal wear and tear and require regular
maintenance (e.g. cleaning/replacing and oiling the air filter).
Check the following before each use:
• All wheel nuts and screw fittings must be secure.
• Check the condition of the air filter (if necessary, clean/replace the filter and lubricate with air filter oil)
• Check that the servo is attached in the correct position
• Check the condition of the tyres and ensure that they adhere to the wheel rims
• Check that all cables are attached (they must not touch the moving parts of the vehicle)
• Check that the fuel pipes are secure and in a good condition; check that the fuel system is sealed properly
• Check that the glow plug is functioning correctly
• Check the condition of the brake pads
• Check that the servo rod for the carburettor and brakes is working correctly
• Check that the steering system is working properly
Check the model for any signs of damage before each use. If there are any signs of damage, discontinue
use immediately.
Only use genuine spare parts when replacing worn vehicle parts (e.g. tyres) or defective vehicle parts (e.g.
a broken suspension arm).
