27. LITHIUM BATTERY

The Compact PLC is provided with a lithium battery. This is required in order to provide back-up for
the SRAM and the real-time clock.
NOTE: Lithium batteries fall into the catagory of hazardous waiste. Please be sure to follow the
guidelines for disposal that are valid for your area.
Buffer Life
3 years at 70 °C
6 years at 40 °C
NOTE: Take note that the temperature within the housing of the unit can sometimes be up to
20 °C above the surrounding temperature.
Power Monitor
The state of the battery can checked with bit 1 of the Inport Address $3480 (see section "34. Inport
Address $3480") (hardware monitoring).
0 ... Battery OK
1 ... Battery dead
The bit status can be placed on an output. If you are using an operating panel, a respective message can
also be output.
For reasons of compatibility, the state of the battery can also be checked with the register T D99.
However, this method should not be used since it is software monitoring!
