3.7. Transport of the vehicle
If there is still fuel in the carburetor, the vehicle must be transported only in horizontal position.
If the vehicle is not transported in horizontal position, the carburetor has to be drained from fuel.
Note:
If the vehicle is not transported in horizontal position, the fuel still in the carburetor
can flow into the crankcase causing that the engine will not start at next starting
procedure.
Remove drain screw from carburetor float chamber and collect the fuel from the float
chamber in a suitable container.
Clean draining screw and re-fit it.
Attention: When transporting a battery removed from the vehicle, cover the poles as in case of
contact with metallic parts, otherwise fire may be provoced.
Warning: Assure before each transport that the vehicle has beeen safely fastened.
Note:
Before transporting the vehicle on a trailer, make sure that the country-specific
regulations and laws are respected in the following points:
brake system of the hauled trailer
weight of the hauled trailer
lateral mirrors of the pulling car
3.8. Preservation of vehicle and engine
If the vehicle and the engine are out of service for a prolonged period (e.g. in winter) all parts
subject to corrosion must be preserved.
3.8.1. Vehicle
Clean the fairing parts and the complete vehicle with suitable cleaning agents.
If you intend to store your vehicle below freezing point temperatures, fill the cooling system
with a mixture of distilled water and an aluminium compatible anti-freeze.
The mixture should assure anti-freeze protection up to -20° C / -4° F, or drain the coolant
and blow the cooling circuit with compressed air.
Warning: If not respected it may cause frost damage (e.g.: to cylinder).
Lubricate the rear axle to prevent corrosion.
Charge battery periodically (approx. every 2 months) with the charger specified.
Cover the vehicle.
