5.2.3. Brake fluid
The hydraulic circuit of the brake system is filled at the factory and checked for tightness.
The level of brake fluid in the fluid reservoirs can be
checked as follows:
Place vehicle on a horizontal space.
Check
minimum – maximum marks. The
level should be between the two
marks.
If the level is too low, refill with brake fluid. Proceed
as follows:
Open the respective fluid reservoir.
Remove the compensating diaphragm.
Refill with brake fluid.
Check level again.
Close the fluid reservoir.
Attention: If the vehicle is operated with insufficient brake fluid, the brakes may fail.
Note:
Depending on the thermical strain of the brake system, the brake fluid may get
different kind of discolouring. This however is no reason to change the brake fluid.
Note:
If you have to refill brake fluid frequently, check the hydraulic circuit for obvious
leakage. In case of leakage contact immediately a ROTAX Service Center.
5.2.4. Brake pads
The brake pads are a safety relevant component
and should get particular attention. The brake
pads should have a minimum remaining lining
thickness of 1,5 mm / 0,06 in.
As long as the wear indicator grooves (pos. 1) are
still visible the lining thickness is within the wear
limit of 1,5 mm / 0,06 in.
Note:
Brake pads with less lining
thickness should immediately be
replaced by new ones.
Attention: Driving the vehicle with brake pads below the minimum thickness may cause
sudden brake failure. There is the risk that the liners detach from the pads without
previous warning due to lacking adherence.
