Operation
WARNING – Risk of injury from escaping
calibrating oil or flying parts!
If the hydraulic connections for the test
equipment and the unit under test are set up
incorrectly, calibrating oil can escape at high
pressure or components of the test equipment
can burst when the test is started. This can
cause injury or material damages.
Before powering up, check that all hoses
on the test equipment and the unit under
test are properly connected.
Replace any leaky or faulty hoses.
Wear protective goggles.
Wear protective boots.
CAUTION – Noise can damage hearing!
During tests with the EPS 708,the noise level
may exceed 80 dB(A). Such noise levels can
damage hearing.
Wear ear protection.
4.1
Switching on
1. Switch on the EPS 708 via the master switch
(fig. 1, pos. 5).
2. Start the ESP software.

The EPS 708 is now ready for operation.

The test sequences can only be performed with the
hood closed.
4.2

Switching off

1. Press <F8> to stop the test.
2. Exit all open applications.
3. Shut down the PC via the Windows operating
system.
4. Switch off the EPS 708 via the master switch.

Leave the PC switched off for at least 60 seconds
before switching on again.

Emergency stop

4.3.1
Activating emergency stop
!
Only actuate the emergency stop switch in the event
of a fault. Actuating the emergency stop switch
could damage the test equipment or unit under test
as they are no longer supplied with calibrating oil
and lubricating oil.

Press the emergency stop switch (fig. 1, pos. 3).
 The EPS 708 stops the test.
 The drive stops immediately.
 The chiller is switched off (this interrupts the water
circulation and therefore the conditioning of the
calibrating oil).
 The electric fuel pump in the calibrating oil tank
is switched off (this interrupts the circulation of
calibrating oil in the calibrating oil tank).
 The fan and PC remain on.
4.3.2
Deactivating emergency stop
1. Rectify the fault.
2. Pull out the red knob of the emergency stop switch
until it engages.
 Recommence or continue the test sequence.
4.4
Protective hood
WARNING – Risk of injury from the
protective hood!
There is a risk of injury to the head if the
protective hood is not fully opened or if the
height is incorrectly adjusted.
Adjust the opening height of the protective
hood in line with the body size of the
testing personnel.
Always open the protective hood fully
during assembly work in the test area.

Replace the protective plates of the protective hood
immediately if damaged! If the protective hood
begins to fall when open, the two pneumatic springs
must be replaced immediately.
Testing components with the EPS 708 is only possible
with the hood closed.
Protective hood height adjustment:
The opening height of the protective hood is adjusted by
altering the position of the wire rope. On delivery of the
EPS 708, the opening height of the protective hood is set
to its maximum of 2.1 meters (with a device foot height of
10 cm). If the wire rope is attached to the front through-
hole of the protective hood, the minimum opening height
is approx. 1.9 meters (with a device foot height of 5 cm).
