The calibrating oil tank and chiller are installed in the base
of the EPS 708 (special accessory, depending on version).
The chiller cools the calibrating oil by means of a heat
exchanger. In this case, no external water supply is
required.
Cooling the calibrating oil
The calibrating oil is cooled by a heat exchanger. The
necessary amount of cooling water is conveyed via the
external water connection or through the internal chiller.
The connections for the external cooling water supply
and return are located on the side of the test bench
(see fig. 3).
!
If an external water supply is used, the client must
install an oil separator in the cooling water drain.
Heating the calibrating oil
The calibrating oil is heated by an electric resistance
heater, which is installed in the calibrating oil tank. The
time required to heat the calibrating oil, e.g. from 20 °C
to 40 °C, depends upon the quantity of calibrating oil
contained in the tank. On average, the heating time is
approx. 20 min. at room temperature (18 °C to 20 °C).
As soon as the EPS 708 is switched on, calibrating oil
is circulated by the electric fuel pumps. The heater in
the calibrating oil tank heats the oil to a preselected
temperature as dictated by the temperature regulator,
and keeps it constant. The installed temperature
sensor continually measures the temperature. The float
switch installed in the calibrating oil tank monitors the
minimum and maximum oil levels.
