Decommissioning
7.1

Temporary shutdown

In the event of lengthy periods of non-use:
Disconnect the EPS 708 from the mains electricity.
Drain calibrating oil from the calibrating oil tank.
Drain lubricating oil from the lubricating oil tank.
Shut off and disconnect the cooling water supply.
7.2

Change of location

If the EPS 708 is passed on, all the documentation
included in the scope of delivery must be handed over
together with the unit.
The EPS 708 is only ever to be transported in the
original or equivalent packaging.
Unplug the electrical connection.
Heed the notes on initial commissioning.
DANGER – Risk of injury due to improper
transportation of EPS 708!
Improper transportation of the EPS 708 can
lead to a risk of injury from falling or tipping
over.
Note the centre of gravity of the EPS 708.
Wear safety shoes and protective gloves.
Always use suitable transportation and
lifting equipment with an adequate load
bearing capacity.
Drain water from the chiller prior
to transport. The unit is only to be
transported and installed by qualified
personnel.
Fit transportation safeguards.
Drain calibrating oil from the calibrating oil tank.
Drain lubricating oil from the lubricating oil tank.
Drain water from the chiller during transport. Refill
with water immediately after transport (see initial
commissioning).

Disposal and scrapping

7.3.1

Substances hazardous to water

Oils and greases as well as refuse containing oil and
grease (e.g. filters) represent a hazard to water.
1. Substances hazardous to water must not be allowed
to enter the sewage system.
2. Substances hazardous to water must be disposed of
in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Calibrating oil as per ISO 4113 is classified under
waste oil collection category 1. Category 1 waste
oil must not contain any foreign substances such as
waste oils of a different category, gasoline or diesel.
See the safety data sheet of the calibrating oil for
the correct waste code number.
7.3.2
EPS 708 and accessories
1. Disconnect the EPS 708 from the mains and detach
the power cord.
2. Dismantle the EPS 708 and sort out and dispose
of the different materials in accordance with the
applicable regulations.
7.3.3
Chiller
The chiller must be disposed of by specialist
refrigeration engineers.
The refrigerant and lubricating oil in the chiller
must be disposed of in accordance with applicable
regulations in the country of use.
EPS 708, accessories and packaging should
be sorted for environmental-friendly recycling.
Do not dispose EPS 708 into household
waste.
Only for EC countries:
The EPS 708 is subject to the European
directive 2012/19/EC (WEEE).
Dispose of used electrical and electronic
devices, including cables, accessories and
batteries, separately from household waste.
Make use of the local return and collection
systems for disposal.
Proper disposal of EPS 708 prevents
environmental pollution and possible health
hazards.
