15 Maintenance
Before each use:
► Check the tires,
► Check the fuel lines for damage.
► Check the fuel filling level.
► Check the engine oil filling level.
► Check the machine, mowing deck and protec‐
tive covers for damage.
► Check the screw connections.
After the first 10 operating hours:
► Have the ride-on mower inspected by a
STIHL authorized dealer.
After 25 operating hours:
► Check the blades,
After 50 operating hours:
► Check the mowing deck position,
After 100 operating hours:
► Replace the blades,
Every 12 months or after 100 operating hours:
► Have the ride-on mower inspected by a
STIHL authorized dealer.
► Have the V-belt and the toothed belt serviced
by a STIHL authorized dealer.

Opening and closing the
engine hood
15.2.1
Opening the engine hood
► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Shut off the engine,
► Engage the parking brake,
► Remove the ignition key and store it securely.
► Allow the ride-on mower to cool down.
► Hold the engine hood (1) with one hand on the
handle (2).
► Open the engine hood (1) with a slight upward
tug on the handle (2).
► Fold the engine hood (1) all the way forward.

Closing the engine hood
► Carefully close the engine hood (1).
The engine hood audibly clicks into place.

Changing the engine oil
► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Shut off the engine,
► Engage the parking brake,
► Remove the ignition key and store it securely.
► Open the engine hood,
► Change the engine oil as described in the
User Manual for the engine.
15.4
Removing and mounting the
wheels
15.4.1
Easing the pressure on the wheels
To ease the pressure on the front wheels
► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Shut off the engine,
► Engage the parking brake,
► Remove the ignition key and store it securely.
► Secure the ride-on mower so that it cannot roll
away.
► Lift the ride-on mower at the front with a suita‐
ble lifting jack. Engage the help of another per‐
son if necessary.
► Push a non-skid support of sufficient load-
bearing capacity and with a height of at least
260 mm (1) under the front axle (2).
► Support the ride-on mower carefully on the
support.
To ease the pressure on the rear wheels
► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Shut off the engine,
