11 Working with the ride-on mower

► Measure the distance (1) of the mowing deck
to the ground at the front edge (2) and the rear
edge (3).
The rear edge of the mowing deck must be
10 mm higher than the front edge.
► If the distance differs: Do not use the ride-on
mower and instead contact a STIHL author‐
ized dealer.
11 Working with the ride-on

Position of user
► Sit on the driver's seat and hold the steering
wheel firmly with both hands.

Disengaging and engaging the
gearbox
11.2.1
Disengaging the gearbox
The gearbox can be disengaged with the gear‐
box freewheel lever for pushing the ride-on
mower.
► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Shut off the engine,
► Engage the parking brake,
► Remove the ignition key and store it securely.
► Pull the lever (1) fully out and lift it upward.
The gearbox is disengaged.

► Shut off the engine,
► Engage the parking brake,

► Remove the ignition key and store it securely.
► Guide the lever (1) down and press it com‐
pletely inward.
The gearbox is engaged.
11.3
Adjusting the engine speed
NOTICE
For mowing, always set the throttle lever to
the "MAX" position to prevent the V-belt and the
mowing deck from being overloaded.
When you push the throttle lever (1) up or down,
the engine speed and the speed of the blades
changes.
To increase the engine speed:
► Push the throttle lever (1) toward the "MAX"
position (2).
The engine speed increases.
To reduce the engine speed:
► Push the throttle lever (1) toward the "MIN"
position (3).
The engine speed slows down.

Driving
11.4.1
Braking
WARNING
The brake only acts on the rear wheels. When
braking hard, the user may lose control of the
ride-on mower.
► Avoid abrupt braking maneuvers when driv‐
ing at maximum speed.
