4 Safety Precautions
► Comply with the specifications in the User
Manual for the engine and have the engine
maintained according to them.
■ If the ride-on mower is parked on a loose or
uneven surface during cleaning, maintenance
or repairs, the ride-on mower may move unin‐
tentionally. This may result in serious injury to
people and damage to property.
► Park the ride-on mower on a solid, level
surface.
► Never park the ride-on mower on edges or
ditches.
► Engage the parking brake.
■ When working under the ride-on mower during
cleaning, maintenance or repairs, the ride-on
mower may fall or tip over. This may result in
serious injury to people and damage to prop‐
erty.
► Have work under the ride-on mower per‐
formed by a STIHL authorized dealer.
■ Having the engine running during cleaning,
maintenance or repair may result in serious
injury to people and damage to property.
► Shut off the engine.
► Keep hands and feet away from the
blades.
► Engage the parking brake.
► Remove the ignition key and store it
safely.
■ The muffler and engine may be hot after the
engine has been running. This can result in
burn injuries.
► Wait until the muffler and engine have
cooled down.
► Only open the engine hood after the engine
has cooled down.
■ Abrasive cleaning agents or using a jet of
water or sharp items for cleaning may result in
damage to the ride-on mower, the mowing
deck or the blades. If the ride-on mower, the
mowing deck or the blades are not cleaned
correctly, components may no longer operate
correctly and safety devices may be disabled.
People may suffer serious injuries as a result.
► Clean the ride-on mower, the mowing deck
and the blades as described in this User
Manual.

■ If the mowing deck is attached to the ride-on
mower, it cannot be cleaned safely, or it may
be switched on inadvertently. This may result
in serious injury to people and damage to
property.
► Remove the mowing deck for cleaning,
maintenance and repairs.
► Place the mowing deck on a non-slip sur‐
face.
■ The user can be cut by sharp cutting edges
while cleaning, servicing or repairing the
blades.
► Wear protective gloves made of resistant
material.
■ The blades may become hot during sharpen‐
ing. The user may get burned.
► Wait until the blades have cooled down.

■ When working on or in the vicinity of electrical
components, electric shocks may occur. This
can result in personal injuries.
► Disconnect the negative cable from the bat‐
tery.
■ When one of the blades is moved during main‐
tenance, cleaning or repairs, the other blade
will turn as well. This may result in injury to the
user.
► Wear protective gloves made of resistant
material.
► Block the blades with a piece of wood.
► Keep all parts of your body away from the
turning area of the other blade.
■ Faulty maintenance work on the brake may
cause serious accidents to occur. This may
result in serious injury to people and damage
to property.
► Have maintenance work on the brake per‐
formed by a STIHL authorized dealer.
■ When you have to lift the ride-on mower, the
ride-on mower may shift or fall unexpectedly.
This may result in serious injury to people and
damage to property.
► Lift the ride-on mower only when it is on a
level, firm surface.
► Before lifting the ride-on mower, secure the
mower against rolling away.
► Lift the ride-on mower with the help of
another person or with a suitable lifting jack.
