► Remove the ignition key and store it securely.
► Detach the mowing deck,
► Turn over the mowing deck (1).
► Turn over the mowing deck (1) and set it down
with the blades facing upwards on wooden
supports (2) that are 20 cm high and suffi‐
ciently long.
► Clean the mowing deck and blades,
► Check the thickness (a) of both blades in at
least 3 places.
If the blades are below the minimum thick‐
ness: Replace the blades,
► Check the width (b) of both blades.
If the width is below the minimum: Replace the
blades,

► Measure the sharpening angle (c) on both
blades.
If the sharpening angle is not correct: Sharpen
the blades,

► Remove the blades,
► Push the screwdriver (1) through the central
bore (2) of a blade (3).

The blade balances in a horizontal position.
► If the blade is not balanced: Sharpen the
blade,

Checking the blade position
► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Shut off the engine,
► Engage the parking brake,
► Remove the ignition key and store it securely.
► Detach the mowing deck,
► Turn one blade so that it points in the direction
of travel. The second blade turns at the same
time.
► Check the blades for correct position relative
to each other:
– The first blade (1) must point in the direction
of travel.
– The second blade (2) must be at a 90°
angle (a) to the first blade.
► If the blades are not positioned correctly in
relation to each other: Do not use the lawn
mower and instead contact a STIHL author‐
ized dealer.

Checking the mowing deck
position
► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Shut off the engine,
► Engage the parking brake,
► Remove the ignition key and store it securely.
► Select the lowest cutting height,
► Check the tire pressure,
► If the tire pressure of the front wheels differs:
Equalize the tire pressure.
► If the tire pressure of the rear wheels differs:
Equalize the tire pressure.
