4 Safety Precautions
Follow the safety instructions concern‐
ing ejected objects and take the neces‐
sary precautions.
Maintain a safe distance.
Keep hands and feet away from the
blades.
Remove the ignition key before any
transport, work interruption, storage,
maintenance or repair.
The turning blades may cause objects
to be ejected at high speed. Only work
or drive when the grass catcher box is
attached.
Risk of tipping over. Do not drive or
mow on slopes with an inclination
greater than 10° (17.6%).
Third parties may get caught under the
ride-on mower and be seriously injured,
Maintain a safe distance.
Wear hearing protection.

Intended Use

The STIHL RT 5097.1 ride-on mower is designed
for mowing grass.
WARNING
■ Using the ride-on mower for purposes for
which it is not designed may result in serious
or fatal injuries or damage to property.
► Always use the ride-on mower as described
in this User Manual, in the User Manual for
the engine and in the battery supplemen‐
tary sheet.

4.3 Requirements for users
WARNING
■ Users without adequate training or instruction
cannot recognize or assess the risks involved
in using the ride-on mower. The user or other
persons may sustain serious or fatal injuries.
► Read and understand the User Man‐
ual and keep it in a safe place for
reference.
► If the ride-on mower is passed on to
another person: Always give them the User
Manuals for the ride-on mower and the
engine as well as the battery supplemen‐
tary sheet.
► Make sure that the user meets the following
conditions:
– The user is rested.
– The user must be physically, sensorily
and mentally capable of operating and
working with the ride-on mower. If the
user is able to operate the machine but
has physical, sensory or mental limita‐
tions, the user may only work with the
machine under the supervision of or
after receiving instruction from a
responsible person.
– The user is able to recognize and
assess the risks involved in using the
ride-on mower.
– The user is aware that they are respon‐
sible for accidents and damage.
– The user is an adult or is being trained
in an occupation under supervision
according to national regulations.
– The user has received instruction from a
STIHL authorized dealer or other expe‐
rienced user before working with the
ride-on mower for the first time.
– The user is not under the influence of
alcohol, medication or drugs.
► If you are unsure: Contact a STIHL author‐
ized dealer.

Clothing and equipment

WARNING
■ Objects can be thrown at high speed during
operation. This may result in injury to the user.
► Wear long pants made of robust material.
■ Noise is generated during operation. Noise
can damage your hearing.
► Wear hearing protection.
