4 Safety Precautions
– The protective covers are unchanged and
undamaged.
– The device software is unchanged.
– For mowing: The grass catcher box is cor‐
rectly attached.
– The mowing deck and the blades are correctly
installed.
– The mowing deck, blade brake clutch and
retaining pins are undamaged and function
properly.
– Original STIHL accessories for this ride-on
mower are correctly attached.
– Spring-loaded devices are undamaged and
function properly.
– The wheels are properly secured.
– The air pressure in the tires is not too high or
too low.
– The brake is functioning properly.
– The engine stops when the driver's seat is
vacated.
– After disengaging the blades, they come to a
standstill within 5 seconds.
WARNING
■ If not in a safe condition, components may no
longer operate correctly, safety devices may
be disabled, and fuel leakage may occur. Per‐
sons may be seriously injured or killed.
► Work only with an undamaged ride-on
mower.
► If fuel is leaking from the ride-on mower: Do
not work with the ride-on mower and
instead contact a STIHL authorized dealer
for assistance.
► Close the fuel tank cap.
► If engine oil is leaking from the ride-on
mower: Do not work with the ride-on mower
and instead contact a STIHL authorized
dealer for assistance.
► Close the engine oil cap.
► If the ride-on mower is dirty, clean the ride-
on mower.
► Do not manipulate the ride-on mower and
its safety systems.
► Do not manipulate the ride-on mower in a
way that modifies the performance or speed
of the motor.
► If the controls do not function properly: Do
not work with the ride-on mower and
instead contact a STIHL authorized dealer
for assistance.
► Spring-loaded devices may release stored
energy.
► For mowing: Attach the grass catcher box
as described in this User Manual.

Blades
The blades are in a safe condition when the fol‐
lowing conditions are met:
– The blades and attachments are not dam‐
aged.
– The blades are not deformed.
– The blades are correctly attached.
– The blades have been sharpened correctly.
– The blades are burr-free.
– The blades are correctly balanced.
– The blades have the required minimum thick‐
ness and minimum width.
– The sharpening angle is correct.
WARNING
■ If they are in an unsafe condition, parts of the
blades may come off and be ejected at high
speed. People may suffer serious injuries as a
result.
► Use undamaged blades and attachments.
► Install the blades correctly.
► Sharpen the blades correctly.
► If the blades are below the required mini‐
mum thickness or minimum width: Replace
the blades.
► Have the blades balanced by a STIHL
authorized dealer.
► If you are unsure: Contact a STIHL author‐
ized dealer.
