Caution: As the alignment reference line is positioned more posterior to the knee center, the patient will experience more stance flexion during loading
response. Additional voluntary control will be required to maintain knee stability when the device is powered OFF.
Caution: Errors that can occur during alignment and adjustment may cause malfunction of the device and lead to a fall.
After Alignment
After alignment, the healthcare professional should:
– Have the patient load the heel and allow the knee to flex while it is loaded. Ensure the patient experiences the resistance provided by the knee.
– Have the patient experience the roll-over of the foot. Encourage the patient to apply hip extension.
– Ask the patient to sit down using the stance resistance of the device.
– Show the function of the manual lock as this could be helpful when the knee is turned OFF.
– Ask the patient to walk both short and slightly longer distances under supervision to evaluate the setup of the device fully.
The healthcare professional should instruct the patient on:
– How to operate the device.
– How to understand the warning signals that the device may issue (see. Device Warning Signals section).
– How to recognize and activate the different states of the device (see. Supported Activities section).
