SaO2 Diagnostics
NOTE: If the unit being tested is not equipped with the SaO2 option, then the main di-
agnostics menu is displayed whenever a user selects the SaO2 DIAGNOSTICS.
The SaQ2 Diagnostics consist of three separate tests which may be run to verify the
sub-systems of the SaO2 module as well as the accuracy and status of the selected
SaOz sensor. When this menu option is selected the SaO2 Diagnostics Menu is dis-
played on the LCD panel as shown in figure 4-2.

A. ACCURACY TEST
The purpose of this test is to verify that the SaO2 plug-in boards (PIB) perform accu-
rately with any selected SaO2 sensor. The test routine sends the infrared light output
signal through both the red and infrared channels. This produces a 1:1 red to infrared
ratio which corresponds to an SaO2 value of 85%. The successful completion of this
test signifies that the SaO2 module can transmit and receive light through the moni-
tored sight, the red and infrared
channels are matched, and that the
processing unit can successfully dis-
play the parameters. Since the SaOz
module is empirically calibrated dur-
ing the design phase (calibration val-
ues in software, no trim pots to cali-
brate), a display of 85% means that
the SaOz module can accurately dis-
play SaOz over the entire monitoring
range.
