► Check the sharpening angle (c) on the
blade (2).
If the sharpening angle is not correct: Sharpen
the blade, 18.2.
► If you are unsure: Contact a STIHL authorized
dealer.
Checking the balance of the blades
► Remove the blade,
► Push the screwdriver (1) through the middle
hole (2) of the blade (3).
► Carefully let go of the blade.
The blade balances in a horizontal position.
► If the blade is not balanced: Sharpen the
blade, 15.9.
10.6 Checking the mowing deck

► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Shut off the engine,
► Engage the parking brake,
► Remove the ignition key and store it securely.
► Select the lowest cutting height,
► Check the tire pressure,
► If the tire pressure of the front wheels differs:
Equalize the tire pressure.
► If the tire pressure of the rear wheels differs:
Equalize the tire pressure.
► Measure the distance (1) of the mowing deck
to the ground at the front edge (2) and the rear
edge (3).

11 Working with the ride-on mower

The rear edge of the mowing deck must be
10 mm higher than the front edge.
► If the distance differs: Do not use the ride-on
mower and instead contact a STIHL author‐
ized dealer.

11.1 Position of user
► Sit on the driver's seat and hold the steering
wheel firmly with both hands.
11.2 Disengaging and engaging the
gearbox
11.2.1 Disengaging the gearbox
The gearbox can be disengaged with the gear‐
box freewheel lever for pushing the ride-on
mower.
► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Shut off the engine,
► Engage the parking brake,
► Remove the ignition key and store it securely.
► Pull the gearbox freewheel lever (1) all the
way out.
The gearbox is disengaged.
11.2.2 Engaging the gearbox
► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Shut off the engine,
► Engage the parking brake,
► Remove the ignition key and store it securely.
► Push the lever (1) all the way in.
The gearbox is engaged.
