10.2. SERVICE
GCE recommends a medical device periodic inspection to be undertaken at
least once a year to do leakage test and check the proper functionality of the
medical device, see chapter 7.1.
LEAKAGE TEST
• After connection to medical gas pipeline system terminal unit or to medical

regulator, visually check possible leakages:
• Leakage test of the valve for fl ow adjustment:
1. Close the valve for fl ow adjustment (turning the handwheel clockwise).
When closing don´t use excessive torque (max. recommended closing
torque is 0,4 Nm).
2. Connect the fl ow outlet and hose nipple with a hose, immerse the end of
the hose into a jar fi lled with water.
3. Connect the Tube fl owmeter to the source of compressed air (max. 5 bar).
4. The test: leave the Tube fl owmeter for 1 min under pressure. The number
of bubbles shall not be higher than 3 bubbles per 1 minute.
5. When test is ready, disconnect the Tube fl owmeter from the source of
compressed air.
• External leakage test:
1. Close the valve for fl ow adjustment (turning the handwheel clockwise).
When closing don´t use excessive torque (max. recommended closing
torque is 0,4 Nm).
2. Close the outlet connection of the Tube fl owmeter using a plug, the
plug has to have the same thread as the outlet connector of the Tube
Flowmeter,
3. Connect the Tube fl owmeter to the source of compressed air max. 5 bar.
4. Open slowly the valve for fl ow adjustment (turning the handwheel
anticlockwise).
5. Test for possible leakage by the application of soap water on the medical
device joints.
6. After the test disconnect the Tube fl owmeter from the source of
compressed air, remove the plug from outlet connection and carefully
clean the surface of the Tube Flowmeter, see chapter 9 (cleaning).
Do not use leak detection fl uid contain glycols.
If any leakage is detected, use the procedure in chapter 7.3 and return the
medical device to GCE for service.
The medical device shall not be disassembled or repaired when connected
to the source of the pressure.
