motorcycle will not only e n c h a n c e it's appea-
rance but will improve general Performance
and extend the useful life of many c o m p o -
nents.
1. Before cleaning the machine:
a) Block off end of exhaust pipe to prevent
water entry: a plastic bag and strong
rubber band may be used.
b) R e m o v e air cleaner or protect it from
water with plastic covering.
c) M a k e sure spark plug(s), gas cap, oil
tank cap, transmission oil filier cap are
properly installed.

If engine case is excessively greasy,
apply degreaser with a paint brush. Do
not apply degreaser to chain, sprockets,
or w h e e l axles.

Rinse dirt and degreaser off with garden
hose, using only enough hose pressure
to do the job.
Excessive hose pressure
may cause water seepage and c o n t a m i -
nation of w h e e l bearings, front forks,
brake drums, and transmission seals.

h a v e
resulted from
improper high pressure
detergent
applications such as those
available in coin-operated car w a s h e s .
4.
O n c e the majority of the dirt has been
hosed off, w a s h all surfaces w i t h w a r m
water and mild, detergent-type soap.
A n old tooth brush or bottle brush is
handy to reach hard-to-get-to places.
5.
Rinse machine
off
immediately
with
clean water and dry all surfaces w i t h a
chamois, clean t o w e l , or soft absorbent
cloth.
6.
Immediately
after
w a s h i n g ,
remove
e x c e s s
m o i s t u r e
f r o m
c h a i n
a n d
lubricate to prevent rust.
