The Supertech RK-10 Plasma Knee Brace is fitted as follows:
1. While seated with the knee at approximately
90 degrees, firmly position the knee brace
over the knee, ensuring the Knee Cup System
(5) is positioned centrally over the knee cap
and the Hinge Padding (12) is positioned at
the sides of the knee joint. Ensure the Hinge
Padding (12) is not folded back on itself.
2. Open the Lower X-Strap on the side with the
printed Alpinestars Logo Pull Tabs (14), feed
them through the buckles and adjust them
to a snug fit.
3. Smooth out any potential material bunching
or creases by rolling the hands over the strap
towards the buckles and readjusting the pull
tabs if necessary.
4. Always ensure that the Pull Tabs are
positioned equidistant on both sides to
ensure an even tension. The X-Strap System
is designed so that the Logo Pull Tabs (14)
can overlap the Loop Pull Tabs (15), meaning
that the two pull tabs can meet and overlap
to ensure an optimized fit for smaller leg
circumferences.
5. Close the Upper X-Strap (1) following Steps
1-4 and tighten to a snug fit.
6. Stand up and adjust the Pull Tabs if
necessary. This should be done one strap at a
time to ensure the optimum fit.
7. Check the fit by bending the knee. If the fit is
not as desired repeat Steps 1-5.
Repeat Steps 1-6 for the other side brace. During use the tension in the straps may
relax. Depending on personal preference the straps could initially be over-tightened to
compensate for any potential strap relaxation.
3 EXTENSION STOPS
The four-point hinge system incorporates interchangeable Extension Stops that limit the
extent to which the Supertech RK-10 Plasma Knee Brace can be straightened. This may be
desired where a previous injury inhibits the full extention of the leg and could also help
to prevent injuries from hyper-extension. The Supertech RK-10 Plasma Knee Brace comes
with the 10 degree Extension Stops pre-installed, however this is easily exchanged for
other Extension Stops (0, 5, 15, 20, 25 and 30 degrees).
Also available as a Replacement Part, the Supertech RK-10 Extension Stop Replacement
Kit includes 4 sets of Extension Stops from 0 - 30 degree, 4 new Extension Stop Fasteners
and a H2 Hex Wrench (see Section 5).
How to replace the Extension Stops:
We recommend trying the knee braces with
the 10 degree Extension Stops initially. If you
require a different opening angle, follow these
steps.
1. Open the knee brace to the maximum
opening angle.
2. Remove the Extension Stop fastener using
the H-2 Hex wrench supplied with the knee
brace.
3. Slide the Extension Stop out towards the top
side of the knee brace.
4. Select the appropriate size replacement
Extension Stop and with the "UP" arrow
pointing towards the top side of the knee
brace, slide it into position.
