17 Cleaning and maintenance
17.1 General
Before cleaning or maintenance, switch off the speed controller and completely disconnect the drive battery from the
vehicle. Then switch off the transmitter. If you have just stopped using the vehicle, allow all parts (e.g. motor, speed
controller, drive battery) to cool down completely. After that, remove the drive battery from the vehicle.
After driving, clean the whole vehicle from dust and dirt, e.g. use a long-haired clean brush and a vacuum cleaner (but
be careful so that small parts are not sucked into the vehicle). Compressed air sprays can also help to remove dirt.
Do not use any cleaning sprays or conventional household cleaners or other chemicals. These may dam-
age the electronic components and discolour the plastic parts or body or cause corrosion.
Never wash the vehicle with water (e.g. with a garden hose or a high-pressure cleaner)!
A soft, slightly dampened cloth can be used to wipe the body. Do not rub too hard, as this may result in scratch marks.
17.2 Changing tyres
The tyres are glued to the wheel rims and cannot be removed. Therefore, if a tyre is worn, the entire wheel must be
replaced.
Do not mix up the tyres/wheels! The narrower tyres must be fitted on the front axle (front tyre dimensions
(W x Ø): 25.5 x 72 mm, rear: 30 x 73 mm).
After loosening the wheel nut (A), remove the plastic pressure
plate (B) first. Then slide the wheel off the wheel axle (D).
Attach the new wheel so that the hex socket on the inside of
the wheel rim fits exactly over the wheel hub nut (C).
Orient the pressure plate (B) correctly (the indentation visible
in the figure points outwards toward the wheel nut) and screw
the wheel onto the wheel axle with the wheel nut (A) that you
removed at the beginning.
Do not apply force when tightening the wheel nut; otherwise,
the wheel will not spin freely, and the drive may be damaged.
The wheel hub nut (C) may get stuck in the wheel rim when
the wheel is removed or it may come loose from the wheel
axle (D). Ensure that the drive pin (E) does not fall off.
If the wheel is subsequently re-fitted, it is important to check that the drive pin (E) is inserted exactly into the centre of
the wheel axle (D) and positioned in the corresponding notch on the wheel hub nut (C).
Therefore, ensure correct orientation when inserting the wheel hub nut (C) on the wheel axle (D). The
groove in the wheel hub nut must face the drive pin.
If the drive pin (E) is missing, no torque can be transferred from the motor to the wheel, and the wheel will spin freely.
