10. Imbalance minimization

If the wheel imbalance measured is extremely high (e.g.
static imbalance >50 g) it is advisable to perform
"Imbalance minimization".
The program permits minimization of the total
imbalance by providing compensation for the static
imbalance of the tire by way of that of the rim.
Phase 1: Start match program

Go to the main page of the balancing software.

Enter password: r r r and press <OK> .
« "Imbalance minimization" opens.

Work as accurately as possible throughout the entire
procedure. Follow the instructions shown on the
monitor.
Phase 2: First measurement

Close the wheel-guard hood.
« Measurement commences.

Phase 3: Rotating the tire on the rim
1. Rotate wheel until the valve is in the 12 o'clock
position.
2. Press <OK> .
« The reference position of the wheel on initial
starting is stored.
3. Make a reference mark on the tire (corresponding to
the position of the valve).

4. Remove wheel from the flange.

To rotate the tire on the rim, it may be necessary to
deflate the tire, unseat it again (using a tire changing
machine) and then re-inflate after rotating.
5. Rotate the tire on the rim 180 degrees.

The mark previously made provides a guide.
Phase 4: Storing the new position
1. Fasten wheel.
2. Rotate the valve to the 12 o'clock position.
3. Press <OK> .
« The new position of the wheel on the flange is
stored.
Phase 5: 1st reference measurement

Close the wheel-guard hood.
« Measurement commences.
The following values are determined:
+
Rim imbalance
+
Current imbalance
+
Tire imbalance
+
Smallest possible imbalance

After the values are studied, further imbalance
minimization is required.
