12.5.4 Calibrating with wheel and sample weight

Follow the instructions on the monitor.
1. Attach a motor vehicle wheel of medium size
(e.g. width 5.5", diameter 14") and in very good
condition to the flange.
2. Select Calibrate and confirm by pressing <OK>.
« The calibration is started.

ROLL R8 (P-LOCK) suggests calibration with the
electronic rim-distance gauge.
3. Place the electronic rim-distance gauge against the
rim flange.

4. Hold the electronic rim-distance gauge against the
rim and confirm by pressing <OK>.
5. Manually enter the data for the rim width and
confirm by pressing <OK>.

The software offers the option to enter the data for
the wheel directly via the control panel by selecting
the following symbol.

6. Press <START>.

« Measurement commences.
7. Enter the value of the balance weight (60 g) and
confirm by pressing <OK>.
8. Attach a balance weight having the value entered to
the inner side of the wheel.
9. Press <START>.
« Measurement commences. Wait until the process
is completed.
10. Remove the balance weight from the inner side of the
wheel and attach it to the outer side.
11. Press <START>.
« Measurement commences. Wait until the process
is completed.
12. Rotate wheel until the weight is at the 6 o'clock
position.
13. Press <OK>.

This completes calibration.

The calibration made is permanently stored
automatically.

Reference measurement

Exact centering of the wheel is a basic prerequisite
for this reference measurement and for all
balancing operations.

In the following description the audio is activated.
1. Attach a motor vehicle wheel of medium size (e. g.
width 5.5", diameter 14") and in very good condition
to the flange.
i
Use the same sample wheel as in the calibration
phase.
2. Enter the wheel data.
3. Close the wheel guard.
« Measurement commences.
