4.4 COMBINED APPLICATION

The rescue winch is not limited to lift a person upward. More often a person suffering a fall from
height is hanging in the fall arrester, a guided type fall arrester or a connecting element.
First the device is fixed to the anchor point as described before. Additionally it may be completed
with a fixing adapter to ease operation. The device must always be fastened at the eyelet with
holding rope, sling etc. to a bearing part (middle rail). The rung of a ladder is not suitable as a fixing
point! The rope is lead through the device in such a manner that the descending rope is running
out of the left side opening (view from the hand wheel side).
Following the person is attached to the descending rope. Depending on the circumstances the
person may not be reached directly because the fall was over a roof edge or platform, the person
is hanging free. In such a case a suitable rope clip (G) is fixed to the connecting element and the
device fixed to it.
After all connecting elements have been closed securely and checked,
the person suffered from a fall is lifted (please, watch for edge pro-
tection). The person is lifted until the connecting element (the fall
arrester, the guided type fall arrester, etc.) is slack (H). Now you
insert the upstream rope into the rope guide and the fixing clamp of
the device.

Now the person is disconnected from the connection element of the fall arrester, the rope taken out
of the fixing clamp and the descending can begin.
In case the person suffering from a fall is unconscious it is suggested that the assisting person is
descending together with the injured – this allows avoiding contact with constructions during the
operation.
ATTENTION!
People hanging in the harness without moving may suffer a trauma.
After the rescue they must not be laid down, but sit on the ground
with bended legs until the doctor arrives.
