5.6.3.3 Unlocking the unit
To unlock the unit:
1) Press the knob UTILITY (5). The display
shows:

The flashing underscore marks the position
for inserting the first character.
2) Enter the password:
Change the flashing character with the rotary
knob PM2. Select the position of the next
character to be entered with the rotary knob
PM1.
3) To terminate the input, press the knob
ENTER.
When an invalid password is entered, the

When the input is correct, the following

4) Change the adjustment with the rotary knob
PM2 to

and press the knob PM1/ ENTER to confirm.
5) To exit the submenu, press the knob ESC.
5.7 Reset of the unit
The unit can be reset to the factory settings.
Then all adjustments made by the user, includ-
ing the memorized configurations, are lost irre-
trievably. To maintain these configurations (Pro-
grams), they have to be saved on a memory card
(
chapter 5.5.4) or externally on a computer
(
chapter 6.8.6.5).
1) With the unit switched off, keep the knobs
ENTER (2), ESC (4) and UTILITY (5)
pressed at the same time and switch on the
unit with the POWER switch (11).

3) When after a few seconds the message

Turn-off the device

All adjustments are now reset. The password

6 Remote Operation
via a Computer
The DSM-480LAN may be remotely operated
via the supplied computer software. All adjust-
ments can be made like via the menu of the unit,
however, the presentation is much more clearly

arranged. The filter adjustments can also be
made graphically by mouse and the resulting fre-
quency responses and phases are shown as
curves. In addition, it is possible to change the
parameters of the Noise Gates, to copy adjust-
ments between the channels, to save configura-
tions on the computer and to administrate the
complete configuration memory as a project.

6.1 Installing the PC software
System requirements for the installation of the
supplied control programme are a PC with the
operating system Windows XP (SP2) or higher,
chapter 5.6.1).
a working memory of 256 MB as a minimum,
50 MB free hard disk memory and a USB inter-
face, Ethernet or RS-485 interface. The screen
resolution should be 1024 × 768 pixels as a min-
imum. For the installation of the PC software
start the installation programme SETUP.EXE on
the supplied CD and follow the instructions of the
installation programme.

6.1.1 Installing the USB driver
A special driver is required for connection via the
USB interface. This driver is available on the
supplied CD. For automatic installation of the
driver call the file USB[...]SETUP.EXE. The
driver simulates a serial interface for the operat-
ing software.
6.2 Selecting the interface
To switch over between the RS-485 interface,
the Ethernet interface and the USB connection:
1) To call the menu, press the knob UTILITY (5).

6.3 Starting the PC software
