To link the inputs:

1) At the lower edge of the window under "Input
Linked" click the buttons of all inputs whose
parameters are to be adjusted in the same
way. If the view for a special input is being
shown (
fig. 14), click the button for
this input as well. The buttons appear
"depressed" and the lettering becomes blue.
The linking is maintained even when
switching over to another view.
2) To release the linking for an input, click its
button again.
To link the outputs:
1) At the lower edge of the window under "Out-
put Linked" click the buttons of all outputs
whose parameters are to be adjusted in the
same way. If the view for a special output is
being shown (
fig. 17), click the button for
this output as well. The buttons appear
"depressed" and the lettering becomes blue.
The linking is maintained even when
switching over to another view.
2) To release the linking for an output, click its
button again.
Linking has no effect on the functions "Mute",
"Vu-Meter Mode", the channel assignment
"Routing Mix" and the naming of the outputs.

6.5 Copying adjustments

Contrary to linking the channels when only the
parameters changed during linking are adapted,
the copying function transfers all adjustments of
a channel to another. The adjustments for
"Mute", "Vu-Meter Mode", the channel assign-
ment "Routing Mix" and the naming of the out-
puts are not copied.

6.5.1 Copying adjustments of an input

1) Click the button "Input Copy". The dialog win-
dow "Input copy channel" opens.
2) Under "Input Source" select the input whose
adjustments are to be transferred to another.
3) Under "Input Destination" select the input
which is to accept the adjustments.
4) Confirm the selection with "Confirm" or can-
cel the procedure with "Cancel".
5) In another dialog window "Copy Input – Are
you sure?" confirm or cancel the procedure.

6.5.2 Copying adjustments of an output

1) Click the button "Output Copy". The dialog
window "Output copy channel" opens.
2) Under "Output Source" select the output
whose adjustments are to be transferred to
another.
3) Under "Output Destination" select the output
which is to accept the adjustments.
4) Confirm the selection with "Confirm" or can-
cel the procedure with "Cancel".
5) In another dialog window "Copy Output – Are
you sure?" confirm or cancel the procedure.

6.6 Renaming outputs

To rename the outputs, click the button
or the name of an input or output in the
view "Overview" (
fig. 11). The win-
dow "Edit Names" (
inserted. The names of the outputs
Out1 to Out8 can be changed here. A name may
consist of 6 characters as a maximum. It is
recommended to refrain from using special
(country-specific) characters (e. g. ä, ö, ü, ß, è, ô,
ì, á, ñ, μ) as they will not correctly be shown on
the display of the DSM-480LAN.
Window "Edit Names"

6.7 Renaming the unit

To rename the unit, click the following button.
The window "Name Device – Edit Name
Device" is inserted and the present
name of the unit may be changed. The
name may consist of 16 characters as a maxi-
mum and appears in the list "List ID" (
When using several units, it serves to distinguish
them.

6.8 Administration of the configurations

Each configuration adjusted in the DSM-480LAN
may permanently be memorized on one of its
24 memory locations as "Program". By means of
the control programme these configurations may
be read from the memory of the DSM-480LAN
and be saved on the computer or they can e. g.
be modified and retransferred to the unit.
6.8.1 Saving the configuration
on the computer
To save the present configuration on the com-
puter:
1) Click the following button.
The dialog window opens "Save As".
2) Enter the desired file name, select the mem-
ory location and save the file.
As a preset for the memory location, the
subfolder "Program" is selected which has
automatically been created during installation
of the programme. The file extension *.m48 is
automatically attached to the name entered.
6.8.2 Loading a configuration
from the computer

of the DSM-480LAN, e. g. an output configured
for controlling a tweeter may become the bass
frequency output after loading another configu-
ration. In this case there is the risk of overload
for a tweeter connected to this output.
To load a configuration memorized on the com-
puter:
1) Click the following button.
2) Select the desired file and confirm the open-
ing.
If the selected file does not contain any
valid configuration, the following message
appears "Load Program – File not admitted".
6.8.3 Memorizing the configuration
in the unit
To memorize the present configuration in the
DSM-480LAN:
1) Click the following button.
2) In the field "Select Position" or by double-
clicking an entry in the list, select the memory
location under "Memory Program". A free

selected or a memory location already
reserved may be selected to overwrite its
contents.
3) Enter the name for the configuration in the
field "Edit Name". The name may consist of
16 characters as a maximum. It is recom-
mended to refrain from using special (coun-
try-specific) characters (e. g. ä, ö, ü, ß, è, ô, ì,
á, ñ, μ) as they will not correctly be shown on
the display of the DSM-480LAN.
4) To store, click the button "Store" or cancel the
procedure with "Cancel".
5) In another dialog window "Store Program –
Are you sure?" confirm or cancel the proce-
dure.
After storing, the window "Store to Memory
Program" will be closed.
Prior to loading a configuration
check if it corresponds to the
speaker constellation connected.
The dialog window
"Open" opens.

"Store to Memory Program"
