2.1

Responsibilities of the operator

The operator is responsible for complying with the following points:
General
 The applicable industrial safety regulations, professional association
regulations and codes of engineering practice are complied with
The specified photovoltaic system safety equipment remains fully

functional
 Check that persons commissioned to perform the work can evaluate their
assigned tasks and recognise possible risks
The device is commissioned in accordance with the instruction manual

The instruction manual is provided during transport, assembly,

installation, commissioning and during initial maintenance
 The instruction manual is kept in the immediate vicinity of the device
 Electrical work may only be carried out if a second person is present. In
the event of an unforeseen electrical accident, that person must be able to
switch off the power supply and provide assistance
 Access to the electrical operating areas is only granted to persons
authorised by the owner/operator
The transport, assembly, installation, commissioning and initial

maintenance of the device may only be performed by authorised specialist
personnel

Transport

In accordance with its weight, the device may only be transported or lifted

using an industrial truck or crane
 Only allow qualified crane operators to lift the device by crane
 Only allow qualified drivers to transport the device on industrial trucks
 Check that any routes along which the device will be transported are able
to bear the weight of the device and of the industrial truck or crane
Location
Only store and operate the device in dry, enclosed areas

Immediately replace any warnings on the system which have become

illegible
 Install and operate the device in an enclosed electrical operating area,
labelled with the appropriate warning and safety symbols
Do not operate the device in the vicinity of flammable, explosive,

aggressive, caustic or corrosive substances or gases
Safety concept
 Agree an emergency plan with the local fire services
 Check that the safety information/location information and the emergency
plan are available in the operating area
Check that an adequate residual current protection system (e.g. an RCD),

which is suited to the location, is in place and is used
Check that an adequate overvoltage and lightning protection plan, which

is suited to the location, is in place and is used
Mark the electrical operating area with the safety label Wear ear protectors

Safety (device)
Connect an external DC disconnector. The DC disconnector must be

accessible and easy to reach at any time, without aids. The circuit breakers
that are installed in the device do not meet the requirements for a
disconnector.
