Introduction

1.1

Brief description

Central inverters convert the direct voltage output from solar generators
into grid-compliant alternating voltage and supply power as three-phase
current into the public power grid.
Each central inverter has four DC inputs to which the DC main cables from
the generator junction boxes can be connected. This means you can
dispense with a generator switch box. This makes it easier to plan a
photovoltaic system (PV system) and saves costs.
There are three levels of performance of transformerless central inverters:
Rated power 200 kVA

Rated power 300 kVA

Rated power 350 kVA

All levels of performance have the same technical design and the same
function.
Each central inverter can respond to faults in the grid in accordance with
the BDEW (German Federal Association for the Energy and Water
Industries) directive Generation systems on medium-voltage grids (last
revised June 2008):
 Remains on the grid for a specified time
 Stabilises the grid voltage by feeding in the idle power
 Reduces the active power when the frequency is increased
Corresponding settings in the display are requirements for this.
If the energy supply company wants to control the photovoltaic system
externally in accordance with the German Renewable Energy Sources Act
(EEG), then combine the central inverter with the manufacturer's
GridControl signal converter.
The display shows information on the status of the central inverter, the grid
characteristics and possible device fault messages.

Intended use

Central inverters are designed exclusively for the conversion of direct
current from solar generators to alternating current. Any other use is not
considered intended use. Central inverters are designed for grid connection
to a medium-voltage transformer and may only be operated in IT (Isolé
Terre) grids.
The device must only be installed and operated in accordance with the
technical specifications (Technical specifications, p. 83). The device must
only be installed and operated at temperatures T = –20 °C ... +50 °C and a
relative humidity of 0 ... 95% (non-condensing) in the electrical operating
area. Intended use is not guaranteed at other temperatures or at a higher
relative humidity.
From T = +45 °C, devices with the level of performance 350 kVA
automatically reduce their output.
Unauthorised modifications to the device are not permitted. Intended use
also includes compliance with the specifications in this manual.
