Tips for piezoelectric measurement technology

loaded with a bending moment of 100 Nm, this produces
an output signal of -2.3 N.
The potential overload of the measuring element is par
ticularly problematic. So please note the maximum lateral
force stated in the data sheet.
14.6 Selection of components
A piezoelectric measuring chain consists of the actual
transducer, the charge amplifier and the connection cable
between the components.
If the maximum force to be measured is known, you can
select a suitable charge amplifier and measuring range.
The transducer can be designed according to the maxi
mum overload and the geometric requirements, as the
output signal is not dependent on the maximum capacity.
Example 1: force transducer
A maximum force of 15 kN is to be measured.
S Select a force sensor with a full scale value of 20 kN,
such as the CFT/20 kN with -7.7 pC/N sensor sensi
tivity.
S Enter the unit kN in the CMD Assistant via Display ->
Unit.
S Enter the transducer sensitivity 7700 (pC/kN) in the
Sensor sensitivity field in the CMD Assistant. (The
minus sign of the transducer sensitivity is not
entered.)
S Enter the measuring range 15 in the Physical input
range field in the CMD Assistant, the display shows
the most suitable value to have been set: 14.99919.
