Software Description
4.1
General
The device is freely programmable like a PLC.
The following sections explain the software features of the unit. They are of interest mainly
to those users who intend to write their own software.
Many rules and regulations for safety applications have been observed during all the
design stages (see section "Safety Concept").
The 1/209 device can be programmed using a handheld terminal pr439, any other
RS232C Terminal (e.g. VT100) or a personal computer. A MENU supported software
package is available for PC users (see PC-MENU-Disk).
Programming or reconfiguring is not required for standard applications.
In the normal way trip settings are accomplished via front panel push buttons. Additional
options are explained in the following chapters. A personal computer will allow for
maximum user friendlyness since all device functions are MENU supported via context
sensitive HELPs.
4.2
Programming Device pr439
Any commercially available handheld terminal with an RS232 link can be employed to
programm the unit (e.g. PSION with RS232 support).
Switch on the PSION with its RS232 adapter fitted. The display will now show a MENU.
Use the CURSOR keys (arrows) to move from item to item. Select COMMS and activate
using EXE. Should COMMS not be present, press ON twice. The device will then check
for the presence of the RS232 adapter adding the MENU item when contact has been
made.
After activating COMMS item SET will appear on the MENU again to be activated using
EXE. Check the pr439 (PSION) setting. Use the CURSOR keys (arrow left/right) to select
the appropriate parameters.
