RELOCATING SUPPORT SURFACE
English
WARNING
• Using a IsoGel AIR support surface on a bed frame of a larger or smaller width than the stated IsoGel AIR width
may result in the support surface sliding and patient injury .
• The risk of entrapment can develop when the support surface is placed on bed frames that leave gaps of even a
few inches between the support surface and the headboard, footboard, and siderails . The support surface is not to
be used when such gaps are present .
Prerequisite: Two (2) operators will be required for this task .
1 .
Position an operator at the foot end and one (1) at the head end of the unoccupied support surface .
2 .
Each operator will lift the support surface by using the two (2) handles located at the foot end and head end .
Note: Operators shall at all times use both handles when relocating the IsoGel AIR support surface .
3 .
Place support surface on bed frame following the "Installing the Support Surface" on
TRANSFERRING OF PATIENT FROM ONE PATIENT SUPPORT PLATFORM TO ANOTHER
WARNING
• To avoid the risk of patient injury or equipment damage, do not X-ray the patient while on Isogel AIR .
• To avoid the risk of patient injury, do not use the transfer bridge to support patient load . If the space between the
two patient support platforms is greater than 3 in (7,62 cm), use the transfer bridge to fill the gap . The transfer
bridge is meant to ease transfer of a patient from one patient support platform to another . Always make sure that
the patient support platforms and their respective transfer gaps are adequate to support the patient .
• To avoid the risk of patient injury, leave the frame in the lowest position when the patient is unattended to help
reduce falls .
• Patient stability and siderail coverage may be compromised with the use of an overlay . When using an overlay,
extra caution and/or supervision is required to help reduce the likelihood of a patient falling .
• The safe use of the support surface is maximized when used in conjunction with siderails; there may be an
increased risk of falls when siderails are not present . Serious injury or death can result from the use (potential
entrapment) or non-use (potential patient falls) of siderails or other restraints . Local policies regarding the use of
siderails should be taken into account . Whether and how to use siderails is a decision that should be based on
each patient's individual needs and should be made by the physician, operators, and responsible parties .
• To avoid the risk of patient injury, ensure the opposite siderail is raised when placing a patient on the support
surface .
• Extra precautions are needed for a patient at risk of a fall (i .e ., agitated or confused) to help reduce the likelihood
of a fall .
• To reduce risk of patient or user injury or equipment damage, do not exceed the safe working load of the hospital
bed frame when supporting both the patient and the support surface .
