Carefully read and strictly follow the warnings and cautions listed on this page . Service only by qualified personnel .
WARNING
• To avoid the risk of patient injury or equipment damage, do not X-ray the patient while on Isogel AIR .
• To avoid the risk of patient injury, covers (top and bottom) should be inspected for tears, punctures, excessive
wear, and misaligned zippers each time the covers are cleaned . If a support surface cover becomes compromised,
the support surface should be removed from service immediately and replaced to prevent cross-contamination .
• To avoid the risk of patient injury, do not transfer the patient from one bed to another using the support surface .
• To avoid the risk of patient and operator injury, a minimum of two (2) operators is required when transferring a
patient . Operators need to be positioned so that they can control patient positioning .
• To avoid the risk of patient injury, do not use the transfer bridge to support patient load . If the space between the
two patient support platforms is greater than 3 in (7,62 cm), use the transfer bridge to fill the gap . The transfer
bridge is meant to ease transfer of a patient from one patient support platform to another . Always make sure that
the patient support platforms and their respective transfer gaps are adequate to support the patient .
• It is the responsibility of the operator to monitor the patient and the patient's skin condition at regular intervals, per
hospital protocols, to ensure patient safety and proper support surface performance . Consult physician if erythema
or skin breakdown occurs .
• Some disinfectants may cause damage to the product if used improperly . If the products described in "Cleaning" on
page 1-15
are used to disinfect the support surface, measures must be taken to ensure the entire surface is wiped
with a damp cloth soaked in clean water and thoroughly dried following disinfection . The cover can be damaged
when exposed to such disinfectants beyond the manufacturers' recommendations . Failure to follow these directions
when using these types of disinfectants may void this product warranty .
• To avoid the risk of equipment damage, do not immerse support surface in cleaning or disinfectant solutions . Do not
allow liquid to pool on the support surface .
• To avoid the risk of patient injury, disinfect the support surface between patients . Failure to do so could result in
cross-contamination and infection .
• To avoid the risk of equipment damage, the support surface cover must be completely dry before storage or adding
linens . Failure to remove excess disinfectant could cause degradation of the cover material .
• To avoid the risk of patient injury, when using an overlay, extra caution and/or supervision is required . Patient
stability and siderail coverage may be compromised with the use of an overlay .
• To avoid the risk of patient injury, leave the frame in the lowest position when the patient is unattended to help
reduce falls .
• Serious injury or death can result from the use (potential entrapment) or non-use (potential patient falls) of siderails
or other restraints . The safe use of the support surface is maximized when used in conjunction with siderails; there
may be an increased risk of falls when siderails are not present . Local policies regarding the use of siderails should
be taken into account . Whether and how to use siderails is a decision that should be based on each patient's
individual needs and should be made by the physician, operators, and responsible parties .
• To reduce risk of patient or operator injury or equipment damage, do not exceed the safe working load of the
hospital bed frame when supporting both the patient and the support surface .
• The risk of entrapment can develop when the support surface is placed on bed frames that leave gaps of even a
few inches between the support surface and the headboard, footboard, and siderails . The support surface is not
to be used when such gaps are present .
• Extra precautions are needed for a patient at risk of a fall (i .e . agitated or confused) to help reduce the likelihood
of a fall .
• To avoid the risk of patient injury, do not use the unit on a bed frame of a larger or smaller width than the stated
width as this may cause the support surface to slide .
• To avoid the risk of patient injury, ensure the opposite siderail is raised when placing a patient on the support
surface .
• To avoid the risk of patient injury, the operators should evaluate the appropriate CPR protocol to be used with the unit .
