Fault signalling relay
8
D
The SMC has two fault signalling relays (changeover contacts), which can be used for transmitting fault
messages to external systems. Messages regarding hardware and field bus faults are sent over both relays.
When operated as a master controller, the SMC also reports system-wide faults.

The Ethernet connection is required for the overarching networking of multiple SMCs. Connect the ETH port
(RJ45) to a suitable network switch via standard patch cable or crossover cable. Typical CAT5 connectors
must be used.
