Handling and care of liquid-crystal display and
screen
- Avoid any strong impact to, or jolting of surface of glass.
- Do not scratch surface of glass.
- Use a soft, dry cloth to clean display or screen. Do not use
water, naphta or any other liquids!
- Do not subject to direct rays of sun over a protracted period,
since ultraviolet light will damage the pole filters of the LCD
(only for MOT 240).
Remarks:
The CRT of MOT 250/251 and the LCD of MOT 240 are deemed
hazardous materials and must be disposed accordingly.

Suppression of troubles

The pilot lamp does not light after that the unit has
been switched on
Only for MOT 240:
- Is the power supply connected or is sufficient voltage available
(9 - 28 V)?
Only for MOT 250 / 251
- is the connecting line (1) to the network plugged in?
- are the fuses ok?
2 fuses for the network (2) - 2 A/250 V (time-lag fuses)
1 fuse for the measuring unit (3) - 2 A/250 V (time-lag fuse)
- is the control and display unit connected to the measuring unit
through the cables (4) and (5)
The pilot lamp lights after that the unit has been
switched on but there is no picture (display) in the
control and display unit
- is the program module plugged in?
- is the brightness control-knob in the middle?
The stroboscope does not produce flashes or flashes
only intermittently
When using the trigger clamp-on pickup:
- Has the correct program been selected?
- Is the trigger clamp-on pickup connected on the ignition cable
of the cylinder 1 (close to the distributor) (is the „clamp symbol"
on the display in the status line?).
- Is the trigger clamp-on pickup correctly closed? For this
purpose, hold the trigger clamp-on pickup against the light.
There must be no visible air gap between the contact faces of
the ferrite core of the trigger. In the case of accumulation of
metallic chips on the ferrite core, you can remove these
carefully with compressed air. The oil rests on the contact
surfaces of the ferrite core can be removed with a soft and
clean cloth that you pull through the trigger clamp-on pickup.
Keep trigger clamp-on pickup clean. Clean the ignition cable
before attaching the trigger clamp-on pickup.
When using the diesel adapter:
- Has the correct program been selected?
- Is the clip-on sensor properly attached?
Accuracy of shunt and clamp-on pickups
The accuracy of the current-measuring shunt depends to a very
high degree on how clean the plug-in contacts are. The accuracy
of the clamp-on pickups depends on how clean the core surfaces
are. Clean the core surfaces regularly.
Damages of cables
Cable breaks, connector damages, defect connecting clamps or
similar can be repaired or replaced yourself. Eventually, the
deteriorated parts must be replaced (see the required service
parts at section 9).
Wiring diagrams for the individual sensors are contained in the
leaflet "Connecting MOT and FSA to the vehicle" (UBF 550/1 -
