• Hazards due to contact with or inhalation of harm-
ful liquids, gases, mists, vapours and dusts associ-
ated with exhaust gases.
• Risks due to unhealthy postures or excessive ef-
forts in connection with the use of machines.
• Hazards due to unexpected start-up, unexpected
run-down/over-run due to a failure or malfunction of
the control system associated with a failure of the
handles and the position of the operating elements.
• Hazards due to a failure of the control system in re-
lation to the strength of the handgrip, the position
of the controls and the labelling.
• Risk of being pulled (by the chain) in connection
with the saw chain during operation.
• Hazards due to objects or liquids being ejected in
connection with the chip ejection and leaking fuel.
• Risk of dropping the chainsaw while working on a
tree.
RISK OF INJURY!
Contact with the saw chain can lead to fatal cuts.
Never touch the saw chain with your hands while it
is running.
RISK OF KICK-BACK!
Kick-back can lead to fatal cuts.
DANGER OF BURNING!
The chain and guide rail heat up during operation.
Behaviour in an emergency
Initiate the necessary first aid measures for the inju-
ry and seek medical assistance as quickly as pos-
sible. Protect the injured person from further harm
and keep them calm. A first-aid kit according to DIN
13164 should always be available at the workplace in
the event of an accident. Any material taken from the
first aid kit must be refilled immediately.
When requesting assistance, provide the following
information:
1. Place of the accident
2. Nature of the accident
3. Number of injured
4. Nature of the injuries
Save all warnings and instructions for future ref-
erence.

Do not start the engine until the saw is assembled
completely.

Always wear high strength gloves when handling the
chain.
1. INSTALLING THE BAR
In order to ensure that the bar and chain are supplied
with oil, only use the original bar.
The oiling hole (fig. 4 / item C) must be kept free of
contamination and deposits.
1. Ensure that the chain brake lever has been pulled
back into the RELEASED position (fig. 11).
2. Turn the chain tensioning wheel (fig. 9 / item 3)
ANTI-CLOCKWISE until the PIN (fig. 7) (the pin
that is protruding) is at the end of its pushing path
towards the clutch and gear wheel (fig. 9).
3. Place the slotted end of the bar over the bar bolt
(fig. 3 / item B).
Installing the saw chain
• Spread the chain out in a loop so that the cutting
edges (fig. 4) are aligned CLOCKWISE around the
loop.
• Push the chain around the gear wheel behind the
clutch as shown in fig. 4. Ensure that the chain
links are between the teeth on the gear wheel.
• Guide the drive links into the groove and into the
end of the bar as shown in figure 4 - (7).
m NOTE
The saw chain may hang down slightly underneath
the bar.
This is normal.
• Pull the bar forwards until the chain is tight. Ensure
that all drive links are in the bar's groove.
• Align the bar so that the PIN fits into the bar's hole
as shown in figure 7.
• Align the chain brake lever or the front hand pro-
tector bar so that the pin fits into the hole in the
machine housing as shown in figure 6.
• Attach the chain brake lever or the front hand pro-
tector and turn the bar fastening wheel and the le-
ver (fig. 9 / item 18) clockwise to fasten. The chain
must not slip off the guide rail when doing so. Only
pull the bar fastening wheel hand tight during this
phase and then follow the instructions for adjusting
the chain tension as described in the ADJUSTING
THE CHAIN TENSION section.
2. IF THE CHAIN HAS TO BE RE-TENSIONED
Adjusting the chain tension
Correct saw chain tension is extremely important
and must be checked before starting operation and
at regular intervals during all sawing work. If you
take the time to adjust the saw chain, you will im-
prove your sawing results and extend the chain's
service life.
