2.9 Closing the Enclosure

When the terminal is used in non-metrologically approved applications, after all connections have been made,
close the enclosures as explained next.
Harsh Enclosure
To secure the front cover of the harsh enclosure:
1 Place the terminal with the front cover face-down on a soft, flat surface.
2 Ensure the gasket is in the correct position.
3 Align the holes in the rear housing with the threaded holes in the front cover.
4 Locate the eight screws originally securing the cover and reinstall them by turning clockwise.
5 Torque the screws to 1.5 Nm.

2.10 Sealing the Enclosure

When the terminal is used in a metrologically "approved" application, it must be protected from tampering by
use of seals. Optional sealing kits that contain all the required hardware are available at METTLER TOLEDO. The
method used for sealing may vary depending upon the local requirements.

2.10.1 Sealing the Harsh Enclosure

2.10.1.1 United States, Canadian and Chinese Sealing

To seal the harsh enclosure follow these steps:
1 Ensure that the appropriate approval region has been selected in setup under Scale > Type > Approval,
and that the Metrology security switch SW1-1 is in the "ON" position.
2 Place the terminal with the front cover face-down on a soft, flat surface.
3 Ensure the gasket is in the correct position.
4 Align the holes in the rear housing with the threaded holes in the front cover.
5 Install the through-hole screws provided in the sealing kit - they replace two or three of the screws used to
attach the front panel to the harsh enclosure. The U.S. and China require 2-point external sealing. Canada
requires 3-point external sealing.
6 Locate the rest screws originally securing the cover and reinstall them by turning clockwise.
7 Torque all screws to 1.5 Nm.
8 Thread the wire cable and plastic seal through the hole in each new screw.
9 Remove any slack in the wire cable.
10 Thread the end of the wire cable through the plastic seal and snap the seal shut, or through the lead disc
and then close the lead disc with a hand press.
11 Cut off any excess wire.
