1. Note to users

1-1. General precautions

When using Sony Manufacturing Systems Corporation products, observe the following
general precautions along with those given specifically in this manual to ensure proper use
of the products.
• Before and during operations, be sure to check that our products function properly.
• Provide adequate safety measures to prevent damage in case our products should
develop a malfunction.
• Use outside indicated specifications or purposes and modification of our products will
void any warranty of the functions and performance as specified for our products.
• When using our products in combination with other equipment, the functions and
performance as noted in this manual may not be attained, depending upon the operating
environmental conditions. Make a thorough study of the compatibility in advance.

1-2. Handling instructions

• Do not open the cover of this unit or put your hand inside. Otherwise the internal circuit
may be broken by static electricity.
• To prevent malfunctions caused by static electricity, always turn off the power when
touching other parts than the key switches.
• To prevent malfunctions caused by static electricity, do not remove the connector caps
attached at the time of shipping from unused connectors.
• Do not route the connecting cable and the power cord through the same duct as the
machine power line.
• To prevent malfunctions of surrounding equipment caused by noise emitted from the
display unit and vice versa, use a shielded cable for the I/O cable.
• When supplying power, be sure to use within the specified voltage range. Supply power
from an AC lamp source.
• Ground the earth terminal using the supplied earth wire.
• The display unit has separate frame and circuit GND, but the frame and circuit GND on
the connected measuring probe side may share the same ground. In these cases, do not
apply any voltage other than 0 V to the frame GND as this may damage the display unit
and the measuring probe.
When applying any voltage other than 0 V to the frame GND, consult us or our Sony
Manufacturing Systems Corporation service representative regarding the measuring
probe GND.
• When connecting the I/O connector, be sure to wire the connector correctly.
Failure to do so may damage the internal circuits.
• Do not block the ventilation holes on the sides of the display unit, as this may cause the
internal temperature to rise and result in malfunction. Position the display unit so that the
sides of the unit are 5 cm (2.0") or more away from other equipment or walls.
• Place the display unit more than 0.5 m (20") away from a high voltage source, large
current source, large power relay, etc.
• For installation of the display unit, avoid a location exposed to chips, cutting oil, or
machine oil. If unavoidable, take adequate countermeasures.
• Do not put a vinyl cover directly over the display unit or put it in a closed container.
• The ambient temperature should be in the range of 0 °C to 40 °C (32 °F to 104 °F). Avoid
exposure to direct sunlight, hot air currents, or heated air.
