11. Troubleshooting

When the unit does not work properly, check the following before calling Sony
Manufacturing Systems Corporation Representative for service
The power cannot
be turned on.
Main display is
blank.
Main display
remains
Channel display is
(Alarm)
Sixth digit is "F"
No counting
Erroneous
counting.
Accuracy cannot
be obtained
Upon determining the trouble cause using the above talk, take appropriate action.
If you think the unit requires servicing, contact your Sony Manufacturing Systems
Corporation distributor.
• Turn off the power and turn it on 1 minute later.
• Check the connection and continuity of the power line.
• Check for the proper range of power voltage.
• Turn off the power and turn it on 1 minute later.
• Check for the proper power voltage range.
• Was the master unit turned on first during link connection?
• Are the unit numbers set correctly for link connection?
• Have the settings of the DIP switches on the RS-232C board been changed even though link
connection is not used?
• Are the unit numbers set correctly for link connection?
• First carry out the reset procedure.
• Was the measuring probe exchanged with the power on?
• Is the measuring probe's connector locked?
• Is the measuring probe's cable disconnected?
• Has the maximum response speed for the measuring probe been exceeded?
• Connect a correctly functioning measuring probe and reset.
• Is the preset value too large (Overflow)?
• Turn off the power switch and turn it on 5 seconds later.
• Check that the grownding is made correctly.
• Is there a large amount of noise?
• Check the power voltage is in the specified range.
• Check to see if the unit occasionally miscounts.
• Check for any mechanical trouble that may affect accuracy.
(Any trouble due to excess deflection or play.)
• Check to see if the temperature difference between the measuring unit, machine and workpiece
are great.
