8.5.2 Empty Battery Mode

CAUTION
Hazards when empty battery mode is activated
Depending on the settings (established by the CPO using C-Soft), the orthosis either selects "high flexion damp­
ing" (high safety/reduced comfort) or "low damping" (less safety/higher activity) when empty battery mode is
activated.
In certain situations, this can lead to falling caused by:
► Altered damping behaviour of the orthosis.
→ The CPO has to inform the patient of the selected damping behaviour in empty battery mode (High or Low).
→ For the "low damping" setting in empty battery mode, the patient must have the necessary muscular and cog­
nitive abilities to control a freely moving knee joint without stance phase stability.
→ From empty battery mode, operating mode (1st mode) can be reactivated by charging the orthosis.
The damping value activated in empty battery mode can be configured via C-Soft. Damping can be high (stance
phase damping value) or low (cycling mode).

8.6 Operating States/Error Signals

The orthosis joint module indicates operating states and error messages with beep signals.

8.6.1 Safety Mode Activation Indicator

After the problem has been corrected – insofar as this is possible – 1st mode can be activated by connecting and

Cease normal use of the orthosis immedi­
ately and check whether stance phase con­
trol is active.
Do not resume using the orthosis until the
joint module has cooled down and the
orthosis no longer emits the warning.
