Safety
CAUTION
Penetration of dirt and humidity into the system components
Falling or skin irritation may result, caused by:
► Malfunction of the orthosis due to short circuits in the electronics and battery.
► Breakage of load-bearing components.
► Hydraulic unit defects with associated leakage of liquid.
→ Ensure that neither solid particles nor liquids can penetrate the system components.
→ Should the orthosis come into contact with liquids, allow the components to dry. The orthosis must then be
sent to an authorised Ottobock Service Centre for inspection. Your CPO is the contact person.
→ Should the orthosis come into contact with salt water, immediately clean it with a cloth moistened with fresh
water and let it dry. The orthosis must then be sent to an authorised Ottobock Service Centre for inspection.
Your CPO is the contact person.
CAUTION
Mechanical overload caused by mechanical influences or loads from the outside
Falling or skin irritation may result, caused by:
► Malfunction of the orthosis due to short circuits in the electronics and battery.
► Breakage of load-bearing components.
► Damage to the battery.
► Hydraulic unit defects with associated leakage of liquid.
→ Do not subject the system components to mechanical vibration or impacts.
CAUTION
Excessive strain or overloading due to incorrect use
This may lead to falling caused by:
► Malfunctioning of the orthosis.
► Breakage of load-bearing components.
→ Instruct the patient in the proper handling of the orthosis and explain the safety instructions below.

4.2.7.1 Notes on the Movement Types

CAUTION
First step from a standing position with the orthosis leg set back
This may lead to falling caused by:
► Extended knee joint and toe load; the orthosis may switch to the swing phase (no damping).
→ Always lead with the sound leg when taking the first step from a standing position.
CAUTION
Risk of falling when walking backwards
When putting down the toe first when walking backwards, the orthosis may switch from high stance phase resist
ance to swing phase resistance.
► Active flexion in the hip at this point in time can lead to falling.
→ Actively secure the orthosis with the residual musculature while walking backwards.
