CAUTION
Disconnecting/establishing the connection during the adjustment process with C-Soft
This may lead to falling caused by:
► Unexpected changes in the damping behaviour of the orthosis during the movement pattern.
→ As long as the patient is connected to Ottobock C-Soft when making adjustments, he or she must not be left
unattended.
→ Observe the maximum range of the Bluetooth connection.
→ If the connection fails while making adjustments, the CPO must immediately warn and secure the patient.
→ The connection to the orthosis must always be disconnected after adjustments have been completed.
CAUTION
Handle spring elements carefully
In certain cases, this can lead to falling caused by:
► Short circuits of the electronic contacts resulting in malfunctions.
► Malfunction due to improper data transmission from the spring element.
→ Trimming the spring element to the right length should only be done by Service Fabrication.
→ Independent trimming void the warranty.
CAUTION
Errors during the alignment and adjustment process
This may lead to falling caused by:
► Malfunctioning of the orthosis.
► Breakage of load-bearing components.
→ Participation in Ottobock product training for the orthosis is mandatory before the first fitting. Additional
product training may be required to obtain qualifications for product updates.
→ Correctly entering the maximum load setting is an important criterion for the quality of the fitting. If the values
are too high, the orthosis may not switch to the swing phase. If the values are too low, the orthosis may trigger
the swing phase at the wrong time.
→ During data transmission (PC to the orthosis), the orthosis wearer must remain standing or sitting still and the
BionicLink or the communication cable must not be removed.
→ If the orthosis wearer uses assistive devices (e.g. crutches or walking canes) during adjustment, readjustment
is required as soon as the patient stops using the assistive devices.
INFORMATION
The value selected for elevated flexion resistance (STP Flexion Damping Plus) cannot be lower than the value
selected for stance phase damping (STP Flexion Damping). Upon attempting to enter a lower value, this value is
automatically set to the value of the parameter STP Flexion Damping.
INFORMATION
As the patient becomes accustomed to the orthosis, his or her gait pattern will change.
Therefore it is necessary to repeat the entire adjustment process approximately one week after the initial fitting.
The process of habituation takes longer than one week. Therefore, it is to be expected that the patient's activity
will change.
