1 Foreword

These Instructions for Use provide you with important information on the use, adaptation and handling of the C-
Brace orthosis. The orthosis is equipped with the 17B300=L joint module left/17B300=R joint module right. In the
remainder of this document, the C-Brace orthosis will be referred to simply as the orthosis or the orthotic system.
Instruct the patient in the proper handling of the orthotic system. Handover the orthosis to the patient without prior
instruction is not permitted.

2 Product Description

2.1 Design

The orthosis consists of the following components:
C-Brace
1. Thigh closure straps
2. Thigh shell
3. Hydraulic unit (joint module) to control the damping behaviour
4. Medial follower joint
5. Calf closure strap
6. Plug for spring element
7. Upper clamp adapter for spring element
8. Spring element (carbon 17CF2=1 or glass fibre 17CF2=4) with integrated
sensor to detect control signals and give energy (kinetic) storage during
stance phase. The type of spring element that is used depends on the
respective patient.
A carbon spring element is stiffer than a glass fibre spring element.
INFORMATION: Configuring an improper spring stiffness increases the
amount of energy expended by the patient while walking.
