3.4.2 Qualifications of the Therapist or Nursing Staff

The therapist or the nursing staff must be trained in the use of the orthosis (and accessories) by the authorised
Orthotist.

3.5 Areas of Application and Usage Restrictions

CAUTION
Excessive strain or overloading of the orthosis due to unusual activities
Falling or skin irritation may result, caused by:
► Malfunction of the orthosis due to short circuits in the electronics and battery.
► Breakage of load-bearing components.
► Damage to the battery.
► Hydraulic unit defects with associated leakage of liquid.
→ The orthosis was developed for everyday use and must not be used for unusual activities such as extreme
sports (free climbing, paragliding, etc.).
→ If the orthosis has been subjected to extreme strain (e.g. due to falling or similar), it must be inspected by a
CPO immediately for possible damage. The contact person is the responsible CPO, who will send the orthos
is to Ottobock Service if necessary.
The orthosis is an orthopaedic device that makes it possible or easier for the patient to stand and walk, and may
also fulfil other medical requirements. If the patient's activity level increases in the course of use, adjustments may
be required. Changes will also have to be made if the patient's physical condition worsens and more support from
the orthosis is needed.
Discuss the daily duration of use and potential therapeutic measures (e.g. occupational therapy or physiotherapy)
that can improve performance for the patient. In general, no discomfort should be experienced when wearing the
orthosis. Affected limb should be checked by patient or caregiver periodically for areas of excessive pressure. If
excessive pressure is observed, the qualified CPO should be seen as soon as possible.
