SKIN CARE GUIDELINES

• Remove excess moisture from the support surface . Always keep the patient's skin clean and dry .
• Maintain proper air pressure . (Refer "To Adjust Support Surface Firmness" on
CAUTION
• Monitor the patient's skin condition regularly, to ensure skin integrity .
• If fluids spill on any part of the controller or foot box, immediately unplug the power cord . Remove the patient from
the support surface and clean up the fluid . Fluids can cause corrosion of components and may cause the support
surface to operate erratically or may make some functions completely inoperable . Do not put the support surface
back into service until it is completely dry and has been thoroughly tested for safe operation .
WARNING
• Consult physician if redness or skin breakdown occurs .
• Do not immerse the support surface or foot box in cleaning or disinfectant solutions . Do not allow liquid to pool on
the support surface or foot box . Immersion or liquid pooling could cause malfunction resulting in equipment damage
or patient injury .

BATHING A PATIENT

1 . Select the "Max Inflate" button to fully inflate the support surface . (Refer to "To Start Max Inflate" on
2 . Level the bed and adjust the bed height to facilitate access to the patient .
3 . Lower the siderail on the caregiver's side of the bed .
4 . Bathe, rinse and dry the patient's anterior .
5 . Select the "Turn Assist" button to roll the patient onto their side . (Refer to "To Start Turn Assist" on
6 . Bathe, rinse and dry the patient's exposed side and posterior .
7 . Select the "Turn Assist" button to roll the patient onto their opposite side . (Refer to "To Start Turn Assist"
on page 1-26) .
8 . Bathe, rinse and dry the patient's exposed side .
9 . Return the patient to the center position .
10 . Position the patient along the center line of the support surface .
11 . Ensure that the bottom sheet is dry .
WARNING
Failure to position the patient along the support surface center line before starting therapy could result in patient injury .
Check patient frequently to ensure proper positioning and support surface inflation .
12 . Align the patient's shoulders with the graphic indicator on the side of the support surface .
13 . Raise and lock the siderails .
