7. Life phases
7.3 Important information on installation and putting into
operation
It is essential that you note and observe the following instructions. Otherwise, people
may be injured or the lifting column or other components may be damaged.
Overhead installation is prohibited. Danger due to the profile moving apart and falling
with the load.
This lifting column must not have additional drilled holes.
This lifting column must not be used for outside operation.
The lifting column must be protected against moisture penetration.
Each time before the lifting column is put into operation, you must protect the top and
bottom against entry.
Before being put into operation, the lifting column must be attached to a base. The fixing is
performed on the stand/contact surface on the motor side. The base must be able to
withstand the mechanical load of the application. The fixing on the base is performed using
the baseplate or a direct, full-surface attachment of the lifting column profile.
When fixing bear in mind that the stand surfaces and contact surfaces must completely rest
on a metal surface that is at least 5 mm thick.
After setting up and putting into operation, it is essential that the mains plug is freely
accessible.
You must not open the lifting column. Observe the safety information attached to the lifting
column.
The user must ensure that there is no danger when the mains plug is inserted.
It must not be possible for the lifting column to fall over in use due to lateral forces.
When designing tables, etc. take care to avoid crushing and shear points. These are to be
protected appropriately.
Possible failure of limit switches must be considered in the construction. The relevant stop
positions must be set up as required. For tensile loading use an extension safeguard (e.g. rods
or chains) to prevent the profiles separating.
Automatic start-up of the column due to a fault is to be stopped immediately by pulling out
the mains plug.
If a power supply cable and/or feed line is damaged, the lifting column is to be taken out of
service immediately.
All cables must be routed correctly to avoid the risk of tripping.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) as part of the accident prevention regulations (UVV in
Germany) should be worn when working on the lifting columns.
The mains plug should be removed before working on the lifting columns.
All work on the lifting columns may only be performed by trained personnel, such as
mechanics or electrical tradespersons.
