9. Maintenance
At certain intervals maintenance work and function controls are to be carried out that ensure trouble-free operation and roadworthiness for a long time.
Motor vibrations and shocks during drive operation can loosen parts and screws.
Check before each use:
• The tight positioning of wheel nuts and of all screw fittings.
• when replacing screws, secure the latter with screw-lock-glue (Loctite).
• The secure position of the servo control lever on the servo shaft.
• The position and the condition of fuel hoses and air filter.
• The laying of cables
• Also check the charge state of the rechargeable batteries of the transmitter and the receiver
Cleaning
• After driving, clean the entire vehicle of dust and dirt, use compressed air and / or a special spray cleaner.
• Pay particular attention to the bearings. Take the wheels off occasionally and clear the bearings of any dust and deposits.
• After cleaning, the movable parts must be re-lubricated.
• After having lubricated the bearings also clean off any leaking oil and grease, since this is where dust can settle particularly well.
• Also clean the cooling fins of the cooling head regularly with a toothbrush, in order to ensure optimum heat dissipation.
Brakes
The brake linings and the brake disks wear down with time. Thus, the braking effect decreases as the maximal brake pressure was set according to the thickness
of new linings/brake disks.
If you observe that the braking effect is fading:
• Check the strength of the brake disks and
• if necessary correct the position of the adjusting rings at the brake linkages.
Lubrication
All moveable and bearing-mounted parts must be lubricated with a low viscosity machine oil or spray-on grease after cleaning and after each use.
Fuel system, motor
• Impurities must not get into the tank or in the carburettor and certainly not into the motor. Such impurities can cause misfiring under load or a bad idle speed
setting. In the worse case a foreign body between the cylinder lining and piston can cause the piston to get stuck or cause piston seizure!
• To be safe, mount a fuel filter between tank and carburettor to filter out any possible particulate material from the fuel.
• Use fuel for RC cars only!
• Always use fresh fuel and keep the tank lid firmly shut. With time, model fuel absorbs humidity from the air. This dampness reduces the performance of the fuel
and leads to both incorrect running of the motor and motor corrosion.
• Empty the tank if you do not intend to use the model for several days. The remaining traces of nitromethane and ethanol will evaporate and leave some oil
which remains as a residue, the oil will enrich the mixture and possibly block the lines.
• When you have finished driving for the day, unscrew the glow plug and put a drop of "after-run" motor care oil (thin machine oil) into the cylinder. Re-insert the
glow plug and turn the model upside down and around a few times so that the oil disperses evenly through the combustion chamber. This prevents corrosion.
• In case of longer driving pauses, e.g. "to overwinter", put 2 – 3 drops of preservation oil (accessories) in the cylinder.
• Fix fuel hoses on the connector nipples with thin cable ties or special hose ties (accessories). Otherwise the oil in the fuel can cause slipping.

Avez-vous besoin d'autres bougies de préchauffage ?
Les bougies de préchauffage sont des pièces d'usure, avant tout pendant la phase de rodage. Nous vous conseillons donc de tenir toujours en réserve quelques
bougies de préchauffage de rechange. Les bougies de préchauffage ont des valeurs thermiques différentes, le choix de la bougie a une grande influence sur la
puissance du moteur. Pour la phase de rodage, il est conseillé d'utiliser une bougie de préchauffage «froide» prévue pour les moteurs de haute capacité. Après
la phase de rodage, vous pouvez mettre en place une bougie d'une valeur thermique moyenne.
N'utilisez que des bougies de préchauffage pour modèles réduits RC ! Une bougie incorrecte, par ex. pour les moteurs d´avion à 4 temps, peut
entraîner un dysfonctionnement du moteur et rendre le réglage plus difficile.
Notre conseil : Degrés thermique de bougie
Bougies standard pour carburants avec additif nitrométhane (env. 5 %)
Bougies froides pour carburants avec additif nitrométhane (env. 10 %)
Bougies très froides pour carburants avec additif nitrométhane (plus de 10 %)
Montage et remplacement des bougies
Vous avez besoin pour cela d´une clé à bougies (clé en croix, ouverture 8, 9, 10 et 12).
Préchauffage de la bougie
Branchez un chauffe-bougie avec accu sur la bougie et chauffez celle-ci de manière à ce que le mélange carburant-air s´enflamme et le moteur démarre. Quand
le moteur tourne normalement, retirez le chauffe-bougie.
e) Outils et auxiliaires
Le modèle assemblé est prêt à rouler (RtR = Ready to Run). Avant la première mise en service, il faut régler quelques paramètres de base respectivement de
vérifier, ainsi que de mettre à disposition les accessoires et l'outillage.
Procédez dans l'ordre des points de la liste de contrôle et votre modèle est en ordre de marche.
Outils
• Clé hexagonale pour les écrous de roue
• Clé à fourche de 5mm et 5,5mm pour régler l'alignement et le déport
• Clé hexagonale 1,5mm pour les vis sans tête sur les bagues d'arrêt de la tringlerie de gaz/frein et de direction
• Tournevis cruciforme
• Tournevis à fente pour la vis de butée de ralenti et le pointeau principal
Outils auxilaires
• Serre-câbles
• Huile pour filtres à air
• Huile de machine liquide spéciale «After Run» pour graisser et protéger la chambre de combustion contre les résidus corrosifs dans le moteur après utilisation
f) Liste de contrôle pour la mise en service
Ce qui est à faire:
• Vérification de tous les raccords à vis et des écrous de roue
• Contrôle de l'orientation et du jeu de flanc de l'entraînement
• Contrôle du fonctionnement des servos
• Vérification de la portée de l'émetteur de la radiocommande
• Vérification du réglage de base du carburateur
• Visser la bougie d´incandescence.
• Remplir du carburant spécial pour modèle réduit.
• Faire tourner le moteur
Attention ! Les indications relatives à la position avant / arrière / à droite / à gauche se réfèrent toujours à l'axe longitudinal des véhicules vu du sens
de marche «avant» !
