► Insert the screw (1) through the washer (2).
► Apply Loctite 243 threadlocking to the thread
of the screw (1).
► Place the blades (3) with their upwardly bent
wings pointing toward the mowing deck so that
the raised areas on the contact surface
engage in the recesses on the blade (3).
► Screw in the screw (1) together with the
washer (2).
► Block the blades (3) with a piece of wood.
► Tighten the screw (1) to a torque of 65–70 Nm.

Sharpening and balancing the
cutting blade
Sharpening and balancing the blades correctly
requires a lot of practice.
STIHL recommends having the blades sharp‐
ened and balanced by a STIHL authorized
dealer.

17.1
Troubleshooting the ride-on mower
Engine errors

► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Shut off the engine,
► Engage the parking brake,
► Remove the ignition key and store it securely.
► Detach the mowing deck,
► Remove the blades,
► Sharpen the blades. In doing so, note the
sharpening angle and cool the blades.
The blades must not turn blue during sharpen‐
ing.
► Check the blades,
► Install the blades,
► Attach the mowing deck,
► If you are unsure: Contact a STIHL authorized
dealer.

16.1
Repairing the ride-on mower
Users should not repair the ride-on mower or the
blades themselves.
► If the ride-on mower or the blades are dam‐
aged: Do not use the ride-on mower or blades
and instead consult a STIHL authorized dealer
for assistance.
► If warning labels are illegible or damaged:
Have the warning labels replaced by a STIHL
authorized dealer.
Remedy
Set the throttle lever to the "MAX" position.
Switch on the choke.
Refuel the ride-on mower.
Open the fuel cock.
► Check the fuel filter as described in the User
Manual for the engine.
► Use fresh, good quality unleaded gasoline.
