► Start the engine,
► Set the throttle lever to the "MAX" position,

The seat contact switch is defective.
Checking the contact switch of the grass catcher
box
► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Sit on the driver's seat.
► Start the engine,
► Set the throttle lever to the "MAX" position,

► Press the grass catcher box lever.
The engine stops and the blades disengage.
► If the engine does not stop or the blades do
not disengage: Do not use the ride-on mower
and instead contact a STIHL authorized dealer
for assistance.
The contact switch for the grass catcher box is
defective.
Checking the mowing deck contact switch
► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Sit on the driver's seat.
► Press and hold the brake pedal.
► Engage the blade,
► Turn the ignition key to the "Engine start" posi‐
tion.
The engine does not start.
► If the engine begins to run: Do not use the
ride-on mower and instead contact a STIHL
authorized dealer for assistance.
The mowing deck contact switch is defective.
Checking the safety switch for mowing in reverse
► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Sit on the driver's seat.
► Start the engine,
► Set the throttle lever to the "MAX" position,

► Engage the blades,
► Select the reverse direction of travel,

► Carefully drive off.
The blades are disengaged after 1 second.
► If the engine does not shut down or the blades
do not disengage: Do not use the ride-on
mower and instead contact a STIHL author‐
ized dealer for assistance.

The safety switch for mowing in reverse is
defective.

Checking the brake
► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Sit on the driver's seat.
► If the mowing deck is removed, press the V-
belt tension lever forward and secure it in this
position, 6.4.2.
► Start the engine,
► Select the forward direction of travel,

► If the parking brake is engaged: Disengage
the parking brake,
► Carefully press the gas pedal.
The ride-on mower starts moving.
► Ease the pressure on the gas pedal.
► Evenly apply pressure on the brake pedal.
The ride-on mower comes to a standstill.
► If the ride-on mower does not decelerate:
Allow the ride-on mower to roll out and shut it
off. Do not use the ride-on mower and instead
contact a STIHL authorized dealer for assis‐
tance.
Checking the blade brake clutch
► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Shut off the engine,
► Engage the blades,
► Disengage the blades,
After 5 seconds, the blades come to a stand‐
still.
► If the blades do not come to a standstill within
the specified time or if there is still an audible
wind sound: The ride-on mower is defective.
Do not use the ride-on mower and instead
contact a STIHL authorized dealer for assis‐
tance.
Checking the level sensor
► Place the ride-on mower on a level surface.
► Shut off the engine,
► Detach the grass catcher box,
► Press the level sensor down slightly.
The level sensor moves smoothly, and a slight
clicking noise is audible.
► Let go of the level sensor.
The level sensor automatically moves back to
the starting position.
► If the level sensor does not move smoothly or
is dirty: Clean the level sensor,
► If the level sensor still does not move
smoothly: Do not use the ride-on mower and
instead contact a STIHL authorized dealer for
assistance.
