4 Safety Precautions
► If the blades are below the required mini‐
mum thickness or minimum width: Replace
the blades.
► Have the blades balanced by a STIHL
authorized dealer.
► If you are unsure: Contact a STIHL author‐
ized dealer.
4.6.3
Battery and electrical system
The battery is in a safe condition if the following
conditions are met:
– The battery is not damaged.
– The battery is clean and dry.
– The battery functions properly and has not
been modified.
WARNING
■ If it is not in a safe condition, the battery may
no longer function properly. People may suffer
serious injuries as a result.
► Only work with an undamaged and properly
functioning battery.
► Never charge a damaged or defective bat‐
tery.
► If the battery is dirty: Clean the battery.
► If the battery is wet or moist: Allow the bat‐
tery to dry.
► Do not modify the battery.
► Do not insert objects in the openings of the
battery.
► Never bridge the contacts of the battery
with metallic objects (short circuit).
► Do not open the battery.
► Have worn or damaged warning signs
replaced by a STIHL authorized dealer.
■ Liquid may leak out of a damaged battery. If
that liquid comes into contact with the skin or
eyes, the skin or eyes may be irritated.
► Avoid contact with the liquid.
► If skin contact occurs: Wash affected areas
of skin with plenty of soap and water.
► In the event of contact with eyes: Rinse
your eyes with plenty of water for at least
15 minutes and contact a doctor.
■ A damaged or defective battery may smell
unusual, emit smoke or burn. Persons may be
seriously or fatally injured, and property may
be damaged.
► If the battery smells unusual or emits
smoke: Do not use the battery and keep it
away from flammable substances.
► If the battery catches fire: Attempt to extin‐
guish the burning battery with a fire extin‐
guisher or water.
■ When connecting or disconnecting the battery,
sparks may form and ignite fires. Persons may

be seriously or fatally injured, and property
may be damaged.
► Install the battery as described in this User
Manual.
► To disconnect the battery: First disconnect
the negative terminal of the battery.
► To connect the battery: First connect the
positive terminal of the battery.
► Comply with the tightening torque for the
screw connections on the battery.
■ Damaged connecting cables on the battery
may cause fires. Persons may be seriously or
fatally injured, and property may be damaged.
► Regularly check connecting cables for dam‐
age.
► Have damaged connecting cables replaced
by a STIHL authorized dealer.
► Do not use the ride-on mower with dam‐
aged connecting cables.
■ Bypassed fuses or fuses with inadequate load
capacity may cause a fire. Persons may be
seriously or fatally injured, and property may
be damaged.
► Use fuses with the required load capacity.
► Do not bypass fuses.
■ A battery which is believed to be completely
discharged may still produce a dangerous
short-circuit current or leak. This may result in
serious injury to people and damage to prop‐
erty.
► Comply with all the statutory disposal regu‐
lations. Dispose of discharged batteries
immediately. Do not disassemble them. Do
not dispose of them by burning.
■ When jump-starting the ride-on mower, the
battery or ride-on mower may be damaged.
► Activate the starter for not more than
10 seconds at a time.
4.7
Fuel and refueling
WARNING
■ The fuel used for the ride-on mower is gaso‐
line. Gasoline is extremely flammable. If gaso‐
line comes into contact with an open flame or
hot objects, it may cause fires or explosions.
Persons may be seriously or fatally injured,
and property may be damaged.
► Protect gasoline from heat and fire.
► Do not spill gasoline.
► If you have spilled gasoline: Wipe up the
gasoline with a cloth and do not attempt to
start the engine until all parts of the ride-on
mower are dry.
► Do not smoke.
► Never refuel near a fire.
