Machine care
The MAFELL pull-push saw Erika 85 E is designed
with low maintenance requirements and needs very
little care. The sliding and rolling parts must be freed
of chips and dust from time to time using a suitable
vacuum cleaner. An occasional application of a suit-
able lubricant (e.g. Caramba) keeps these parts in
good working condition.
In order to prevent the motor from overheating, regu-
larly check that no dust has accumulated on the sur-
face of the motor.
After a prolonged period of operation, users are rec-
ommended to have the machine checked by an
authorised MAFELL customer service shop.
6.3
Tool care
The saw blades used on the machine must be freed
from resin regularly as clean tools improve the cut-
ting quality. This can be done by soaking the saw
blades for 24 hours in paraffin, white spirit or com-
mercially available resin removers.
6.4
Storage - disposal
If the machine is not used for prolonged periods, pull
out the mains plug and reel up the mains cable over
the outside of the die-cast handles 13 (Fig. 9 -
page 4). Clean the machine carefully and coat blank
metal panels with anti-rust agents.
Store the machine only in dry rooms, where it is pro-
tected against weathering.
The components in this machine are neither toxic
nor damaging. In case of disposal of the machine,
the metal parts should be separated from the plastic
parts and each set of parts disposed of in the correct
fashion.
6.5
Emergency situations
In case of flood occurring on the premises pull out
the mains plug immediately. Before starting the
machine again, have it checked by an authorised
MAFELL customer service shop.
In case of fire pull out the mains plug at first and
then try to extinguish the fire using a suitable fire
extinguisher. Even if the machine seems to be
undamaged, it is recommended to have it checked
by an authorised MAFELL customer service shop.
