• Loosen top wing screw 28, turn the fence exten-
sion to the 0°-position and retighten the top wing
screw.
• Loosen the two cylinder-head screws that are
accessible from above with a screwdriver.
• Loosen the wing screw on the side of clamping
fence support 27 and push the fence extension
towards the saw blade until it comes into contact
with the saw blade from front to rear end.
• Retighten cylinder-head screws.
When the fence extension is readjusted in this way,
the reading of the angle on the scale is correct!
4.7
Use as parallel or rip fence
The universal guide fence can be clamped in differ-
ent positions and used as a rip fence (see Fig. 8 -
page 4):
• on the right or left side of the table with the fence
extension 14 (Fig. 8 - page 4) set to 0° on the
angle scale. For this configuration, secure the
fence in the dovetail guide so that the fence
extension reaches from the front edge of the table
to behind the riving knife / splitter.
Loosen the wing screw on the side of clamping
fence support 27 and set the cutting width by
repositioning guide tube. It can be read off scale
29 at the edge of the fence extension facing the
saw blade. After adjusting, retighten the wing
screw.
• in front of the table on the right or left side the
fence extension set to 90° on the angle scale. For
this setting, loosen the wing screw on the side of
clamping fence support 27 and set the fence by
repositioning the guide tube so that the fence
extension reaches from the front edge of the table
to behind the riving knife / splitter. After adjusting,
retighten the wing screw.
To set the cutting width, loosen the wing screw on
the underside of clamping fence support 27 and
reposition the entire fence in the dovetail guide.
The cutting width can be read off scale 29 at the
edge of the fence extension facing the saw blade
in this case as well. After adjusting, retighten the
wing screw.
The fence extension can also be adjusted length-
ways in the universal guide fence. If there is a dan-
ger of the workpiece jamming between fence and
saw blade when making rip cuts in solid timber, for
example, the fence extension should be reposi-
tioned so that the rear end is more or less opposite
to the middle of the saw blade. To make this adjust-
ment, release clamping lever 30 (Fig. 8 - page 4) on
top of the guide fence and push the extension to the
appropriate position. After adjusting, retighten the
clamping lever.
The fence extension 14 can also be turned by 90°.
This is a great help when sawing narrow work-
pieces, especially with the saw blade tilted. The
lower guiding surface thus created allows the rip
fence to be brought closer to the saw blade. To do
this, release clamping lever 30 on top of the guide
fence. Pull fence extension 14 completely out of the
support and insert it again, turned by 90°, in such a
way that the narrow edge is facing the saw blade.
Then tighten the clamping lever again. Again, the
cutting width can be read off scale 29 at the edge of
the fence extension facing the saw blade.
4.8
Use as cross and mitre fence
Do not attempt to modify the setting
of the universal guide fence unless
the saw blade is at a standstill.
For use as a cross and mitre fence, the universal
guide fence is best clamped to the front left side of
the table. With right-angle cross cuts, the angle
scale indicates 0° in this position.
In order to execute mitre cuts, loosen top wing screw
28 (Fig. 9 - page 4) and turn the fence extension to
the desired position with reference to the scale; a
lock-in position is provided every 15°. Then retighten
wing screw.
The 15° lock-in function can be inactivated with slide
bar underneath the angle scale. To do so, press the
part of the slide bar that protrudes on one side whilst
the lock-in function is disenganged.
In order to improve the quality of the cut, always
ensure that the fence extension is positioned as
close to the cutting plane as possible. Its front end is
cut out for this reason, so that the saw guard can be
lowered sufficiently when cutting thin workpieces.
The fence extension can be adjusted by releasing
clamping lever 30 (Fig. 8 - page 4).
By repositioning the guide bar in clamping fence
support 27, the fence extension can be adjusted to
achieve an optimum cutting clearance depending on
the workpiece dimensions in each case.
